SightSweep 2.0.0 — Stable

SightSweep 2.0 brings broader evidence-based discovery and a compact Windows workspace that prioritizes results. The owner has tested network scanning and the refined interface on actual computers and approved this Stable release.

Improvements

  • Progressive ARP/neighbor, ICMP and bounded TCP discovery; ping-blocked hosts can remain visible when other reachability evidence exists. ONVIF WS-Discovery, SSDP, mDNS and optional NetBIOS enrichment improve identification without turning an open port into a confirmed vendor/device claim.
  • Selected adapter/source handling, Quick/Thorough scans, exact CIDR or inclusive IPv4 ranges up to 4,096 hosts, responsive Stop/Rescan, saved networks and redacted local diagnostics.
  • Compact scan controls and summary, a larger virtualized/resizable results table, search/filtering, optional resizable device evidence, and direct access to network settings. Automatic source recommendations use Windows hardware/default-route information; manual overrides remain available.
  • Local projects, saved scans/comparisons, CSV/JSON exports and explicitly confirmed cross-scan identities with revision-protected labels/notes. Reused IPs alone do not merge identities; ambiguous identifiers remain separate.
  • English, Turkish and Arabic with RTL, keyboard focus, official branding, license/notices and https://klowzy.com in About.

Downloads

  • SightSweep-v2.0.0-win-x64.exe — per-user Inno Setup installer. No administrator rights requested by default; Start Menu shortcut and optional desktop shortcut. Close running SightSweep instances before install, upgrade or uninstall.
  • SightSweep-v2.0.0-win-x64.zip — portable application; extract the entire ZIP and run SightSweep.exe. The .NET runtime is bundled in both options.
  • Verify downloads against SHA256SUMS.txt. EULA and third-party notices are included.

The EXE is now the installer; its filename intentionally matches the established updater contract. The installer and portable application are unsigned. Windows reputation/security policy may affect launch; no signing claim is made.

Existing data and updates

Stable retains %LOCALAPPDATA%\SightSweep for v1.0.0 projects, history and settings. Installation/uninstallation does not delete those data files, exports or annotations. Back up important data before upgrading. Preview data remains in the separate Preview folder and is not automatically merged into Stable. Keep newer shared annotations out of older builds.

Automatic Stable metadata checks are enabled for new profiles, run in the background and are throttled to approximately once every 24 hours. Saved disabled preferences remain disabled. Manual checks remain available. No scan data, projects, credentials or telemetry are sent; a notification opens the public download page only when requested, and no update installs automatically. Existing v1.0.0 users can discover v2.0.0 through their established updater.

Validation and limits

Release checks cover changed UI/update behavior, the Release package, installer lifecycle and data retention, portable startup, metadata and checksums. Earlier successful discovery tests are reused; no full-suite marathon or new network sweep is claimed.

No scanner can guarantee complete discovery across silent devices, firewalls, VLAN isolation and routing boundaries. MAC identifiers are not authenticated; review identity-link suggestions. Camera/NVR/DVR support varies by device implementation. The owner has validated their actual setup; exhaustive hardware, routing, OS/display/accessibility and enterprise deployment coverage is not claimed. Installation testing covers a controlled per-user lifecycle and existing schema-1 data, not every machine or organization policy.

Previous v1.0.0 and v2.0.0-rc.1 releases and assets remain available unchanged. Source code and private development history remain private.

Essential release gates passed: 30 focused update/UI/data-isolation cases; one Release build; non-administrative install, installed launch, running-instance block, in-place install and uninstall; retained legacy schema-1 records/annotations/settings/exports; one fresh portable startup; payload, identity/version and checksum checks. No network scan was started for these release gates. All five public files were downloaded anonymously and their hashes matched.
