1.9.0 for 1.21.1
Ported the mod to 1.21.
This release was create in parallel to 1.8.1 for 1.20.1. Any changes included in both releases are listed only on the changelog for 1.8.1.
General
- Added tag translations.
Fluids
- Ceramics now activates Mantle's potion fluid, powder snow fluid, honey fluid, and soup fluids, along with NeoForge's milk fluid.
- This means the vanilla bowl, bottle, and bucket items all will be able to be dumped into cisterns, even if you lack another mod like Tinkers' providing such fluids.
- Ceramics now activates Mantle's fluid transfer JEI tab, adding cisterns as a catalyst.
- Powder Snow is now identified with the correct name
c:powder_snowinstead of the previous typopowdered_snow. - Buckets now use NeoForge's cauldron fluid registry to fill and empty all mod added cauldrons automatically.
- Migrated to new NeoForge capabilities. Some fluid logic will be more performant.
- Fluid rendering now uses entity render types instead of a custom Mantle render type.
- The most notable change is we use a non-transparent render type for fluids not marked as transparent, which should be more performant.
- Cisterns now render fluids with the backfaces, so you will see the fluid when inside a cistern.
Recipes
- Added crackable ingredient, which matches crackable items with a particular range of cracks. Used to match uncracked items in some of our recipes.
- Removed no NBT ingredient.
- Moved all common tags to
ctags instead offorge
Models
- Simplified some model JSON using a few new template models.
- Bucket model no longer has the contents area inset.
- Removed
ceramics:fluid_bucket_modelin favor of Mantle'smantle:fluid_container. Notably now supports an override so water buckets are more vibrant. - Reworked
ceramics:solid_bucket_model. Now supports overrides for specific block contents, which we use to give powder snow a unique texture.

1.8.1 for 1.20.1
Buckets
- Show creator mod ID for clay buckets, helping identify the mod that added a fluid.
- Powder snow when placed into a cauldron now properly places a powder snow cauldron in all cases.
- Added block tag
ceramics:extra_bucket_blocks. Any blocks added to this tag can be picked up and placed using a clay bucket. - Fix creative not showing solid clay buckets (e.g. powder snow). The bucket was shown in JEI due to some legacy code so this bug was missed before.
- Fix cracked empty clay buckets not having a translation key.
- Fix cracked clay buckets not always showing the "cracked" tooltip.
- Fix powder snow fluids tagged
forge:powder_snownot working with the powder snow clay bucket. - Fix milk clay bucket not having capability by @VoidLeech in #88
Fluid transfer
- Added all gauges to the cistern connections tag.
- Added recipe builder for clay repair recipes. This replaces the old finished recipe, though I suspect no one was using that (and it only breaks datagen).
- Prevent flowing liquids from breaking porcelain channels and faucets. Opted to keep the behavior where it breaks clay channels and faucets.
- Fix faucets getting stuck when pouring into a tank that does not support at least 25mb increments.
- Fix several bugs with cisterns having the wrong tank size on the client after breaking or placing extensions.
- Fix channels, faucets, and cisterns not always calling
setChangedwhen their state changed, potentially causing fluid deletion.
Kiln
- Added recipe book support to the kiln.
- Show fuels in the fuel slot for the kiln JEI support.
- Kiln recipes now use Mantle's
ItemOutput, meaning they can output a tag instead of just a value. - Added a kiln recipe builder compared to using the vanilla builder. Makes it easier to add kiln recipes and furnace recipes together.
Bricks
- Make dragon bricks show at a luminosity of 7, regardless of light level.
- Make the lava part of lava bricks show at a luminosity of 14, regardless of light level.
- Move render types to model JSON. This should allow models a bit more control but may cause resource packs changing the gauges to need an update.
Translations
- Czech localisation for Ceramics [COMPLETE] by @RomanPlayer22 in #87
- Update some outdated lang keys to the newest keys, should add better support for the less recently updated translations.
New Contributors
- @RomanPlayer22 made their first contribution in #87
- @VoidLeech made their first contribution in #88
Full Changelog: v1.8.0...v1.8.1
1.8.0 for 1.20.1
Gameplay
- Gauges now show tooltips of fluid contents looking directly at them.
- Kilns are now crafted using terracotta instead of clay bricks.
- Channels now have slightly more internal capacity to support intersecting channels in some circumstances.
- Gauges are now easier to place on channels.
- Gauges on channels no longer shows the amount of fluid, as that's not properly synced to client.
Data packs
- Added fluid tag
ceramics:bucket_blacklistto prevent a fluid from working in clay buckets. By default, this includes potions. - Added fluid tag
ceramics:hide_in_buckettag, to prevent a fluid from showing in JEI but still allow it to work. Notably used for a couple of fluids that have another bucket variant such as powdered snow.
Resource packs
- Migrated to the new Mantle systems for block entity renderer data in resource packs. Look under
assets/ceramics/to configure models. - Fix invalid newline characters in some item tooltips.
Compatibility
- Migrated to the gauge code from Mantle.
- Updated kiln support in JEI.
- Use Mantle's fluid transfer helper to allow storing weird fluid items such as water bottles in cisterns. Things like potions and soup also work if any mod adds a fluid to the proper tag.

1.6.3
Fluid transfer
- Improved timing of faucets so they interact more consistently with redstone
- Allow a side on channels to be set to input from non-channels
- Improve syncing of channel and faucet NBT, should be a bit faster
- Increase faucet and channel flow rates slightly, will be a bit faster than Tinkers in exchange for costing more

- Clay plates now cost only 1 clay instead of 2, for consistency with other mods plates
- Changed clay plate texture
- Switch milk buckets to using the forge milk instead of being dynamic from the tag

- Marked as supporting 1.16.5
1.6.0
Added
Terracotta and porcelain blocks
- All fluid blocks come in terracotta and porcelain variants
- Terracotta does not hold hot fluids well, and will crack over time, eventually breaking. Cracked terracotta can be repaired with raw clay
- Porcelain is heat resistant, but requires quartz to craft.
- Additionally, all blocks are available in raw clay and porcelain variants. These can be placed in world, but serve no functionality.
Cisterns
- Cisterns are the updated barrels from 1.12.
- Instead of crafting extensions and bases separately, cisterns automatically connect to the same color below
- Can hold 4 buckets for terracotta, or 6 for porcelain
- Visually connect to faucets, channels, and gauges.
Gauges
- New block to check the fluid level of a fluid tank such as a cistern
- When right clicked, displays the fluid name and the fluid level of the adjacent tank
Faucets
- Ported from 1.12
- Move fluids from the side or bottom of a block into the block below
- Improved redstone interactions over 1.12, should also be more efficient
Channels
- Ported from 1.12.
- Filled with faucets, pour fluid into adjacent or below blocks.
- Can interact to change connections
- More efficient than the 1.12 version.
Changed
- All fired clay items are now called "Terracotta" for consistency with vanilla.
- Raw clay is universally named "Clay"
- Fired porcelain is called "Porcelain", while unfired will be "Unfired Porcelain" or simply "Unfired"
- Updated dragon bricks textures for 1.16. They were the one variant that never got a texture update.
1.5.2 for 1.16.x
- Update for 1.16.4
- Should work on 1.16.2 and 1.16.3
