This is the first public alpha. Expect rough edges and please report any bugs.

Welcome to PictoPlus! Make puzzles with blue cubes and yellow shapes, collect them into books, and play them in Picross 3D: Round 2 on your Nintendo 3DS.

Start here

Download PictoPlus-Windows-USA.zip, extract the whole ZIP and open PictoPlus.exe. Follow the welcome screen's Download USA SD Setup steps. You'll need Windows 10 22H2 or Windows 11 x64, Luma3DS with its plugin loader enabled, and your installed USA copy of the game. No ROM dump or manual save editing is required. Keep the generated setup file private.

What's in the downloads?

  • PictoPlus-Windows-USA.zip: the Windows puzzle creator, with its required runtime and compiler helpers.
  • PictoPlus-USA-SD-Setup.zip: install or update the USA loader. For first-time desktop setup, use the app's download button, which also requests your setup file.
  • PictoPlus-Source.zip: the prepared source tree, build dependencies, licences and USA loader source.
  • SHA256SUMS.txt: checksums for the four ZIP downloads.

A few things to know

The public downloads support the USA game. EUR work remains separate. The USA workflow has been tested on physical hardware, including a New 3DS LL with Luma 13.4. Automated checks cover setup, exports, 210-puzzle books, paging and progress preservation. The final openly licensed loading-font change has passed an automated rendering check but still needs an on-console visual confirmation; not every console or game update has been tested.

Each book can contain up to 210 puzzles. The current loader supports 71 persistent custom-book identities; deleting a book keeps its identity and progress. Keep your existing Books, registry and progress files when updating. The 3D converter is experimental, so preview the design before exporting.

PictoPlus executables are unsigned. Microsoft WebView2 is required; the app offers Microsoft's installer if it is missing. See security notes for the recorded review and its limits.

Original PictoPlus code is MIT licensed. Third-party components and the Animals models retain their own licences. PictoPlus is an unofficial fan project, not affiliated with or endorsed by Nintendo.

Thank you to everyone who helped test it. Have fun making something of your own!
