@LAB0ULANGE LAB0ULANGE released this 31 Oct 18:46

An unofficial, fan-made native Windows port of Stuntman (PS2, 2002) - not an emulator. Bring your own disc: the European release, SLES-50288, as an ISO image. No game content is included.

New in 0.1.1

  • Ultrawide: aspect= in pc_settings.ini now takes 21:9, 32:9, any width:height, or auto (the window's or the screen's own shape). With widescreen=on the scene is widened, not stretched (Hor+). No more hex-editing the exe - thanks for the report!
  • No more AVX2 requirement: the game now runs on any 64-bit processor from 2008 on (SSE4.1). It costs about 4% of speed on a fast machine, where the game stays at its 25 pictures a second anyway.

To use ultrawide, set in pc_settings.ini:

widescreen=on
aspect=21:9

Updating from 0.1.0: unzip into a new folder and copy your memcard folder (your saves) from the old one; the game asks for your disc image again on first start.

Getting started

  1. Download Stuntman-PC-0.1.1-alpha-windows-x64.zip below and unzip it somewhere you can write to (not Program Files).
  2. Run stuntman.exe.
  3. The first time, pick your Stuntman disc image: it is checked, remembered, and the game starts.

Nothing to install. Alt+Enter switches between a window and fullscreen. Settings are in pc_settings.ini beside the executable (see README.txt).

Requirements

Windows 10/11 64-bit, a 64-bit processor with SSE4.1 (fast per core matters most), a Vulkan 1.3 graphics card, 8 GB of memory. Linux / Steam Deck: through Proton - reports welcome.

Known issues

  • With widescreen on, the 2D (gauges, timer, menus) is stretched sideways.
  • The menus' animations are a little less smooth than on the console.
  • Below the minimum configuration, the stunts get jerky or slow.
  • Only the European disc (SLES-50288) is supported.

Reporting a problem

Open an issue saying what you did and what happened, and attach stuntman.log (beside the executable).

What it does

  • The career and its stunts, playable from start to end.
  • Higher resolutions (2x by default), 16:9 widescreen, FXAA smoothing, sharpening.
  • Controller as a DualShock 2 (with rumble), triggers to accelerate and brake; keyboard too.
  • The PS2's arithmetic bit for bit, so the cars you follow in the stunts drive their recorded lines.

Requirements

Windows 10/11 64-bit, a 4-core CPU with AVX2 (Core i5-12400 / Ryzen 5 5600 or better), a Vulkan 1.3 graphics card (RTX 3060 / RX 6600, estimated), 8 GB of memory.
