This is a polish update for the time-rewind ability, built in Unreal Engine 5.3 with C++ and the Gameplay Ability System. It adds particle effects, sound and a retuned ability.
Platform: Windows 64-bit · Build: Development
What's new since v1.0.0-beta
- Blast effect: a Niagara blast, camera shake and sound at the point where you activate the rewind
- Rewind effects: electric arcs on the character, plus rewind and exit sounds
- Footsteps: sounds on the walk and run animations
- Gameplay Cues: the blast and rewind effects now run as Gameplay Cues, so other players see and hear them in multiplayer
- Slow motion: it now starts at the blast and covers the hold on it. The rewind itself plays at full speed, and the world eases back to normal near the end
- Chromatic aberration: peaks on the blast and fades out over the rewind
- Retuned ability: 0.8 s rewind with a 0.2 s hold, a stronger field-of-view punch, a 120 cm minimum path, and full blast power at 2500 cm
- Blast kills: dummies killed by the blast ragdoll with an impulse and are launched much harder
- Sprint: the sprint speed is now sent to the server, so the server's recorded path matches the client's
- Debug draw: the path trail and the blast radius sphere are now off by default. Enter
Chrono.DrawPath 1in the console to show them
Features
- Chrono Recall (E): rewinds your character along the last 3 seconds of movement
- Departure blast: radius, damage and knockback scale with the length of the rewound path
- Health restore: recovers any health lost during the rewound 3 seconds
- Rewind effects: slow motion, camera effects, afterimages, electric arcs and character glow
- Sound: blast, rewind and exit sounds, and footsteps
- Path trail: speed-coloured trail of the recorded path, toggled with
Chrono.DrawPath 0/1in the console - Telemetry overlay and health bars
- Training dummies that ragdoll when killed by the blast
- 3-second cooldown; the rewind needs a minimum path length to activate
