[0.40.6] - 2026-08-28
Shared (all surfaces)
Breaking Changes
Saved multi-agent workflow checkpoints must be restarted — checkpoints
created by TeXRA 0.40.5 use an older journal format that 0.40.6 no longer
loads. New checkpoints remain reusable when calls are inserted, removed, or
reordered.
Features
Review multi-agent work one phase or call at a time — before an issued
call starts, you can inspect its resolved agent, model, files, and output
contract, then approve, reject with feedback, or skip it. Approving all
delegated work still admits the remaining calls at once.
Live workflow progress distinguishes plans from actual calls — declared
plan labels, queued calls, active work, cached results, retries, and phase
totals now have distinct states instead of appearing as one flat list.
GLM reasoning controls match each model — supported effort levels,
including Minimal where available, are shown per model; GLM-5.3 keeps its
required reasoning enabled, and GLM-5.3 Flash joins the preferred list.
Bug Fixes
Multi-agent resumes reuse the right completed work — unchanged calls are
recovered after script edits or reordering, remain visible across repeated
resumes, and no longer depend on their previous list position.
Workflow phases keep accurate status and timing — completed phases retain
their own finish times, failures do not mark earlier successful phases as
failed, and phases that never ran no longer appear as active work.
Interrupted and high-volume runs preserve their state reliably — an abort
during startup no longer destroys an existing checkpoint, snapshot flushing
cannot spin indefinitely, and large history deletions use bounded work.
Model requests retain provider-specific controls — Grok honors the chosen
temperature, GLM reasoning survives compaction, and OpenRouter reasoning
details are replayed exactly once across tool follow-ups.
LaTeX replacements preserve operators and document text — math-operator
subscripts, escaped spacing and delimiter commands, rho notation, and TikZ
content containing replacement markers are no longer corrupted.
Agent output and previews fail less mysteriously — single-document XML
output parses normally, between-round LaTeX diffs no longer depend on an
unrelated base file, and stale approval previews are not substituted for
unreadable files.
Tool calls tolerate provider-compatible optional fields — Plan, inquiry,
memory, media, and other multi-command tools now accept the nullable fields
emitted by OpenAI-compatible providers without rejecting the selected action.
Tool results point to the right next step — execution details advertise
their result view, paginated search no longer links to an empty page, figure
extraction reports the full discovered count, and Lean errors give
host-appropriate setup guidance.
Polling and launch failures retain useful state — malformed GitHub comment
data no longer hides the next issue close or reopen, Lean startup failures
reach the dashboard, and agent-launch errors keep their underlying cause.
Storage and rendering failures are reported instead of hidden — TeXRA now
surfaces failed transcript writes, workspace preparation, credential reads,
and cleanup while preserving work that already completed successfully.
Extension (VS Code) and Desktop
Bug Fixes
Team launches no longer wait for informational messages — partial-team
and launch-error notifications cannot hold the run until their message is
dismissed.
Progress controls and answers stay tied to the right run — deleting one
stream no longer resets proposal ordering for every stream, running Codex
turns show an active indicator, and typed question responses preserve checked
options.
Round output refreshes and compares correctly — deleted files disappear
from the current round, and “Compare with previous round” is available when
the rounds differ.
Credential-probe failures no longer look like an empty setup — transient
credential errors are reported instead of permanently completing onboarding
with the wrong answer or blanking the launcher.
Desktop
Bug Fixes
The interface fully recovers after an initial renderer failure — workspace
files, keyboard shortcuts, and the command palette are restored when startup
succeeds on retry.
Settings actions cannot fail silently — unavailable Git actions now report
an error, and subscription usage colors use desktop-compatible theme tokens.
Extension (VS Code)
Bug Fixes
Getting-started actions work before a folder is open — walkthrough
buttons now explain the workspace requirement and offer to open a folder or
create a sample project instead of silently doing nothing.
Grok sign-in is available from the Command Palette — the command is now
exposed whenever TeXRA is active.
CLI
Features
Workflow dashboard rows read like the board's — each phase shows done/total · N running · N failed plus one marker per call, the panel
heading's tally is labelled as the whole run, a call's status word no longer
gets clipped by its metadata, and phase and task rows line up in one column.
Bug Fixes
Queued follow-ups survive a root run ending early — a submission waiting
for its stream assignment is retained instead of being silently discarded.
Account changes recover cleanly — cancelling a coding-plan credential
update restores the prior setting, and Grok appears in the login and logout
pickers.
The focused subagent list gets the available space — the to-do and plan
panel stays hidden while the child-session list has focus.
Commands validate before opening external pages — GitHub Action setup
finishes its local checks before opening the GitHub App installer, and
narrow terminal layouts reserve enough room for the full TeXRA header.
Shutdown and export failures are visible — transcript, usage, lifecycle,
and trace-viewer read failures are reported with their actual cause.
The terminal shows the same run the progress view does — a workflow
agent's transcript no longer hides its reasoning, replies, and prompts, a
relaunched workflow keeps its earlier attempt on screen as a closed group,
and phases are the phases the run actually opened rather than rows grouped by
a repeated label.
Workflow review prompts remain clear and reliable — review keys stay
visible in narrow terminals, cards show readable model names and approval
scope, failed inquiry persistence no longer crashes the CLI, and prompt
failures are reported instead of being mistaken for feedback-free rejection.
Configuration and help commands follow their documented inputs — approval
policies tolerate surrounding whitespace and case differences, global flags
no longer confuse texra help, and unreadable setup paths are reported
instead of being treated as absent.
Live transcript ordering remains stable after repainting — completed tool
and file rows keep the same order after a resize, label update, or scrollback
trim.
