EraSwitch v0.2.0

EraSwitch Switch your Windows 11 desktop to a Windows XP look and back with one click. See the README for setup.

What's new in 0.2.0 (2026-10-28)

Added

• A Windows Vista era: RetroBar's Vista Aero taskbar with the orb, and Open-Shell's Windows 7-style menu in its Aero skin.
• An Era menu in the tray and "Start from: Windows XP / Windows Vista" in Settings. Picking an era while another is on switches straight across, through Windows 11, and only after checking the new one is ready, so a missing helper or wallpaper leaves the old era on. Picking one keeps your wallpaper, sounds and which pieces are switched on.
• RetroBar's Vista themes (Aero, Basic, Classic, Longhorn Aero) in the taskbar theme list.

Changed

• Eras are saved as .londopy files, the new name of the format all Londopy apps share. .londo eras from 0.1.x still open from Settings or when dropped on the exe, and other apps' .londo files are still passed on to them.
• Settings' "Reset to Windows XP" button is replaced by "Start from: Windows XP", which resets the taskbar and Start menu the same way.

Already have EraSwitch? It offers this version in-app (Settings > Updater > Download & Install) and checks the SHA-256 before installing anything.

Install

Installer (recommended): download eraswitch-0.2.0-setup-x64.exe and run it. It installs for your user only, so there is no admin prompt. The binaries are not code-signed: if SmartScreen says "Windows protected your PC", click More info, then Run anyway.

MSI: eraswitch-0.2.0-x64.msi (also x86 and arm64). Per-user by default. For every user on the PC (admin): msiexec /i eraswitch-0.2.0-x64.msi ALLUSERS=2 MSIINSTALLPERUSER="". Add DESKTOPSHORTCUT=0 to skip the desktop icon or AUTOSTART=1 to start with Windows.

Portable: EraSwitch-v0.2.0-x64-portable.exe is the whole app in one exe; EraSwitch-v0.2.0-portable.zip has all three builds and keeps settings next to the exe.

PowerShell: picks the right build for your PC, checks it, and installs it:

Verify a download

SHA256SUMS.txt lists the SHA-256 of every file on this release. In PowerShell, next to the download:

and compare it with that file's line below. On Linux or macOS: sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS.txt --ignore-missing.

Torrents
