Codex Usage Card v0.9.5 Beta is an unofficial macOS add-on, not affiliated with or endorsed by OpenAI. This is the final planned version; continued maintenance and compatibility with future Codex versions are not promised.

Features

  • Sidebar Rings show remaining five-hour and weekly usage when those readings are available, with reset details on hover or keyboard focus.
  • UI55 yields to native navigation, profile menus and overlays. Agent refreshes quota data; guarded Startup retains its 120-second cooldown.
  • The Agent validates loopback WebSocket hosts and port 39222 before connecting and fixes discovery to that port.
  • In-app version checks and update notifications are removed. Quota refresh remains active; the historical automatic Updater stays disabled. Necessary emergency fixes may be published manually on GitHub.

Install — macOS only

  1. Download CodexUsageCard-macOS-0.9.5.zip and SHA256SUMS.txt below. The ZIP is 100,323 bytes. Before executing any extracted code, verify its checksum:

    shasum -a 256 CodexUsageCard-macOS-0.9.5.zip

    Expected SHA256: 7f2a8256738e4d03359a028f18f265518593beed452c4b6279013976ec11ba8c.

  2. Fully extract the ZIP. With Node.js 24 or later available, run 安装.command, or run node manage.cjs install from the extracted folder. A compatible, signed-in Codex desktop client and its bundled CLI are required. Review any compatibility warning; unknown client combinations are not a compatibility guarantee.

  3. Save your work, quit Codex normally with Cmd+Q, then open its original Dock/Applications icon. Under guarded conditions the Startup helper may perform one orderly reopen to enable the local connection. Do not repeatedly restart or clear the cooldown.

  4. Confirm the Ring and quota readings. For management or removal, use node manage.cjs status or node manage.cjs uninstall; redact private status/log information before sharing.

Security and known limitations

  • The native helper is ad-hoc signed and has NOT been notarized by Apple. This distribution limitation is intentional and disclosed. Do not disable Gatekeeper or system security; if macOS refuses execution, stop and review rather than bypassing protections.
  • CDP at 127.0.0.1:39222 is a powerful local debugging interface. Loopback and port checks do not authenticate other local software. Never forward, proxy or expose this port to another device/network, and do not rely on localhost as a security boundary against untrusted local processes.
  • Real single-ring mode and naturally occurring CDP disconnect/recovery have not been separately verified. The first historical native PID-test anomaly's root cause remains unconfirmed. These are disclosed limitations, not claimed PASS results.
  • Codex internal interfaces can change without notice. This Beta is macOS-only; no future compatibility or continuing-maintenance commitment is made.
  • No app-bundle modification or system-wide security change is part of installation. The applicable MIT license and original copyright notices are preserved.

The two release assets are the reviewed installer ZIP and its checksum file. The previous v0.9.4 Beta remains available.
