Fedora Rawhide KDE testing prebuild - singleboot EXT4, kernel 7.3.0-16

Choose a tag to compare

26 October 2026. Experimental Fedora Rawhide AArch64 image for Uke, with original Fedora KDE Plasma, singleboot EXT4 and signed packages from mcc45tr/uke-linux-test. Linux 7.3.0-16 is paired with its exact modules, device trees and userdata boot profile. Control 1.15.0-2 includes the offline-install callback correction. The original KDE Connect package and desktop discovery policy are included.

The compressed root is approximately 991 MiB. Decompression produces a 3457567000-byte Android sparse system.img, SHA256 93d6d446a3e05ba424b2d7cf6a3c100f175eb8c8ce078a0209a31170d5dc6929. Its expanded EXT4 size is 17,179,869,184 bytes (16 GiB). The matched 96 MiB boot image targets boot_b; the root targets userdata.

The host composition and output checks are separate from tablet acceptance. The tested development installation described in the project hardware table is a different filesystem. These exact exported files have not been flashed or booted on a tablet; first setup, root growth, updates, recovery and hardware lifecycle remain untested. Xiaomi Pad 7 and other memory/storage variants are untested.

Local setup prerequisite

This generic image contains no device-local touch reference or calibration. Before touchscreen account setup, provision the target tablet's own accepted 5,432-byte touch reference at /var/lib/uke-touch/reference.bin, owned by root:root with mode 0600. Do not reuse another tablet's reference. The touchscreen service remains inactive while this file is absent. USB-only first setup is not qualified. There is no default user/password; SSH is disabled.

The root contains OEM firmware from the signed public uke-firmware package and its supplied notices. OEM firmware is separate from the project's source licenses. The build retains an explicit redistribution-review flag; no new license clearance is asserted.

Manual installation and recovery

Writing userdata destroys Android apps, files and encryption metadata. Retain verified backups and a working recovery route. Preserve boot_a, stock early firmware, init_boot, vendor_boot, dtbo and read-only persist. Confirm compatible stock firmware in slot B.

Confirm an unlocked bootloader, product=uke, a userdata capacity of at least 17,179,869,184 bytes and a boot B capacity of at least 100,663,296 bytes. Verify the downloaded checksums and local setup prerequisite before installation. The commands below are manual instructions; the export did not execute them.

zstd -d system.img.zst -o system.img
fastboot flash userdata system.img
fastboot flash boot_b boot.img
fastboot set_active b
fastboot reboot

Complete the original Plasma setup after local input provisioning. After the first Fedora boot, run sudo dnf update --refresh. Keep boot, modules and device trees matched; automatic kernel/slot activation is disabled. Filesystem growth remains untested for this exact image. Returning to Android requires restoring or reinitializing userdata; selecting slot A does not restore its data.

Sources and host validation

Host validation covers signed RPM inputs, matched boot/modules, original Fedora helper bytes, language payloads, filesystem content/metadata readback, SELinux policy labels, project/AOSP sparse-decoder byte comparisons and Zstandard roundtrip. A separate root audit checks private-input omission, disabled SSH, setup/network service links, KDE Connect files/policy and a usable target-generated hwdb. Independent second clean build and tablet acceptance remain open.

Fedora Rawhide Uke — Alpha 1

15 October 2026 · Xiaomi Pad 7 / POCO Pad X1 (uke, SM7675) · AArch64

Experimental alpha. Not suitable for daily use. Boot reliability, display
artifacts, power management and several hardware functions remain unresolved.
Keep a separate recovery route and backups. Installation instructions will be
published separately; this release does not provide an installation procedure.

File Purpose
fedora-rawhide-uke-system-alpha-1.img Fedora Rawhide root filesystem
fedora-linux-uke-senemos-729-boot-lp.img Boot image targeting PARTLABEL=linux
fedora-linux-uke-senemos-729-kernel-up.img Experimental boot image targeting PARTLABEL=userdata

All three downloads are direct .img files. The system image is Android-sparse
EXT4 with an 8 GiB logical filesystem labelled UKE_LINUX; it does not contain a
partition table. Both boot files are complete 96 MiB Android boot v4 images.

The software baseline is normal Linux 7.2.9 revision 1.39. The public boot and
root images are rebuilt to exclude unapproved OEM firmware, calibration data
and device identities. They are not copies of the private tablet filesystem.
Neither rebuilt boot variant nor the rebuilt root filesystem has been
physically tested.
Earlier slot-B results apply to the separate development
installation using PARTLABEL=linux; they do not qualify these assets.

A supported firmware provisioning method is not yet available. Wi-Fi, touch,
GPU acceleration and charging depend on firmware and may be unavailable in
these public images. The hardware support table describes development results,
not a promise that every listed function works in this release.

The userdata variant is particularly experimental. Replacing Android
userdata erases Android user data and may prevent Android from starting.

It is not a tested dual-boot configuration. No userdata deployment or physical
boot has been validated.

The local uke account logs in automatically to Plasma and the second local
console, with passwordless sudo for alpha debugging. Root and account passwords
are locked. SSH and automatic USB debug shells are disabled; no Wi-Fi credentials
are included. This local access profile is unsuitable for an unattended device.
English and Turkish translations are included. Discover/PackageKit, Dolphin
administration support, KScreen and KWrite are installed. Vulkan drivers and a
browser are not bundled in this size-limited snapshot.

Kernel updates are excluded from ordinary DNF transactions until a matching
boot/module update is prepared. Installing an RPM does not update the boot
partition. Sources are maintained in the kernel repository
and image builder.

Verify downloaded files against the checksums above and retain the exact
filenames and SHA-256 values when reporting a problem. Read the
short bug-report guide
and hardware status.
Reports should include the selected boot variant and slot, kernel version,
reproduction steps, expected and actual behavior, and reviewed log excerpts.
Remove credentials, unit identifiers, network identities, personal paths and
calibration data before posting. Installation and hardware testing remain
separate from build and package checks.
