Since 1.01. No game data is included. You need your own Xbox disc. To update an install you already imported, replace the program (and, on Linux, lib/) and leave data/ where it is. A save from 1.01 is not read.

Saves

The game's saves are SQLite, and they load when the program starts.

  • data/save/game.sqlite is the whole game save: difficulty, time limit, round counts, damage, screen position, picture size, filter, sound, button config, colors, extra options, rankings, the directions grid, and ten replay slots. A missing file is created from the original defaults (Smooth, time limit 99, BGM and sound effects at 11, and the original directions) and applied before the logos.
  • config/host.sqlite is the window mode, resolution, aspect ratio, and the keyboard. It loads when the window opens. A missing file is a 1280×960 4:3 window and the original keys.
  • An ini or a .sav from 1.01 is not imported. The first start of 1.02 begins from those defaults, so set SCREEN ADJUST again if you had changed it.
  • A damaged database is left as it is.
  • SQLite is compiled into the program. There is no extra library to install.

FILTER, picture size, window mode, resolution, and aspect ratio are still written when you change them.

Windows (64-bit Windows 10 or 11)

  1. Download sf33rdsxb-windows-x86_64.zip and unzip the whole folder somewhere you can write to, such as Documents or the Desktop. Not Program Files: the game keeps its data and saves next to the exe.
  2. Run sf33rdsxb.exe. The program is not signed, so Windows may say "Windows protected your PC": click More info, then Run anyway.
  3. The first time, pick your Xbox disc in the window that opens.

It needs a graphics driver with Vulkan or OpenGL 3.3. The DLLs it uses are in the folder.

Linux (glibc 2.39 or newer: Ubuntu 24.04, Debian 13, Fedora 40 or later)

  1. Install OpenAL, libarchive and the Vulkan loader:
    • Ubuntu/Debian: sudo apt install libopenal1 libarchive13t64 libvulkan1
    • Fedora: sudo dnf install openal-soft libarchive vulkan-loader
    • Arch: sudo pacman -S openal libarchive vulkan-icd-loader
  2. Unpack sf33rdsxb-linux-x86_64.tar.gz and run ./sf33rdsxb. SDL3 is included.
