ilo 0.1.0
ilo is an open-source web browser built on Chromium, free and licensed under the GPL. Your tabs live in a sidebar, in Spaces, and one command bar opens pages, tabs and commands.
This is the first public beta, so expect bugs.
What's in it
- Spaces, each with its own pinned tabs and Today tabs. Today's tabs you leave alone move to the archive.
- The command bar, for pages, tabs and commands.
- Import from the other browsers on your computer: their tabs and bookmarks come in as a Space, with their history, and passwords from a file you export.
- Sync with an ilo account, end-to-end encrypted, so the server can't read what it keeps. You can run your own server.
- Passwords: ilo saves them and fills them in.
- Agents: Claude Code, Codex or any MCP client can work in a Space of their own through ilo's built-in MCP server. They're off until you turn them on, and they never read your passwords or cookies.
- Crash reports, only if you turn them on.
- Updates: ilo updates itself on the Mac and when installed with winget or the installer. Store and Flatpak copies update through the Store and Flatpak.
- Protected (DRM) video.
Get it
- macOS: Macs with Apple silicon. Download ilo-mac-arm64.dmg.
- Windows 10 and 11, x64: download ilo-windows-x64-setup.exe. It isn't signed yet, so Windows may warn before running it. winget (winget install ilo.ilo) and the Microsoft Store follow once each accepts ilo.
- Linux: Flatpak, from flatpak.ilobrowser.com. Run flatpak install --user https://github.com/MartinPTielemans/ilo/releases/latest/download/ilo.flatpakref
SHA256SUMS lists each file's checksum.
Known gaps
- First run: the agents switch is drawn to the right of its row. Click the row to turn agents on (#1286).
- Windows: input methods, such as Japanese, are untested.
- Windows: protected video (PlayReady) is untested on real hardware.
- Windows and Linux: video tiles are empty.
- Linux, Flatpak: Settings › Agents doesn't offer to connect Claude Code and Codex (#1278). Copy Setup gives a command that works when you run it outside the Flatpak.
- Linux: the arrow's shadow, Capture's camera cursor and the blur under overlays aren't drawn yet (#1279).
