UwUMail Server 0.23.2
0.23.1 was tagged but never built: the release stopped at the dependency audit. This release
is 0.23.1 plus what is below.
Changed
- Shared networks are not blocked at once. A network that more than one account has logged
in from (an office, a university, one address for many of a carrier's customers) counts as
shared for a year after its last login. A login nobody could have meant from there is counted
like any other failed login instead of keeping everyone behind it out for a day. The server
only knows networks it has seen logins from. - The gateway hears about a blocked network later. A network kept out for 24 hours or 7
days is refused by the server at once, as before, but handed to the UwUMail Gateway's firewall
only when it has come back ten times, and again every ten times after that. One bad login no
longer becomes a firewall rule, and whoever was just blocked is refused by the same server in
the same words as anyone who mistyped a password too often. - Bans at the gateway leave port 25 alone. They cover the login ports (80, 443, 465, 587,
993) only, and no longer count towards fail2ban's week-longrecidiveban. A provider's shared
address that someone guessed passwords from can still deliver mail. Takes effect once the
gateway is updated (install.shon the VPS).
Security
- Mail HTML is cleaned by ammonia 4.2.3 (was 4.2.0), which closes two ways around the
cleaning: SVG animation tags (RUSTSEC-2021-0158) andurl("")in style attributes
(RUSTSEC-2021-0157).
