Minimum Effort Clicker v1.0.2
Minimum Effort Clicker 1.0.2
A free, open-source mouse and keyboard automation app for Windows 11 x64 and Linux (GNOME and KDE Plasma,
Steam Deck in Desktop Mode), with the same pages and the same version on both. Also on Steam, with Steam Cloud and
Workshop sharing on Windows.
What changed in 1.0.2
- Security update: the bundled .NET runtime is now 10.0.14 with Microsoft's October fixes. No package in the app has a
known advisory. - A screenshot folder chosen on the other system reads as the default, so Steam Cloud can carry settings between a PC
and a Steam Deck.
What changed in 1.0.1
- Steam: closing the clicker with Steam's Stop button no longer fills the log with errors or offers a bug report at the
next start. - The Actions page no longer stays greyed out after saving a toggle.
- Steam Deck: the first-start setup window fits the screen, and the back buttons work beside a game under Steam.
- Linux: copying a screenshot to the clipboard no longer crashes the app.
Download
- Windows: download
MinimumEffortClicker-1.0.2-win-x64.zip, extract the whole folder and open
MinimumEffortClicker.App.exe. The .NET runtime is included. - Linux: download
MinimumEffortClicker-1.0.2-linux-x64.tar.gz, extract it and run./install.sh. On first start
the clicker sets up its desktop helper in one press (on GNOME, log out and back in once). Recording is optional: press
Turn on when you want it (your password, once). Details: docs/LINUX.md.
The automatic "Source code" archives are for building, not for running the app. Each package has a .sha256 file
next to it and a build-manifest.json inside with the source commit and a hash for every file.
What's new since 0.5.0-preview.36
- Bug report in one press: describe what happened, choose what to include, press Send report. No mail app or
account needed. Nothing is sent before you press it. - Look recording for first- and third-person games: camera movement is recorded and played back.
- × times per click or key press, Pause / Unpause (F7 and a controller button), Keep on top, and the
Click target from last time comes back at the next start. - Help is a full manual with clickable contents; Settings and Help show the version and build.
- Toggles say why when they cannot switch on ("No Click Target Selected").
- Linux: a one-press first-start setup, works on Steam and the Steam Deck, and recording is clearly optional.
- Steam Deck: the back buttons are the default controller shortcuts; L4 starts and stops.
- Many smaller fixes. The full list is in CHANGELOG.md.
Good to know
- Nothing runs until you start it. F8 starts and stops Actions, F6 stops everything, F7 pauses, F9 takes
a screenshot and F10 records; change them in Settings. - Saved macros from earlier versions open and are upgraded (macro schema 17); nothing is reset. Keep each version in
its own folder and copy the oldDatafolder next to the new one. - Not code-signed: Windows may show a SmartScreen warning the first time. Do not turn off Windows protections;
check the SHA-256 instead. - Some games forbid macros. Check a game's rules before using a clicker in it.
- Found a bug? Press Bug report next to Help, or e-mail bugs@minimumeffort.eu.

Minimum Effort Clicker v0.5.0-preview.36 (unsigned preview)
Minimum Effort Clicker 0.5.0-preview.36
A free, open-source mouse and keyboard automation app, now as a portable Windows 11 x64 app and a Linux
package for GNOME and KDE Plasma, with the same pages and the same version on both.
Download
- Windows: download
MinimumEffortClicker-0.5.0-preview.36-win-x64.zip, extract the whole folder and open
MinimumEffortClicker.App.exe. The .NET runtime is included. - Linux: download
MinimumEffortClicker-0.5.0-preview.36-linux-x64.tar.gz, extract it and run./install.sh.
On GNOME, log out and back in once so the small helper extension loads; on KDE Plasma it works straight away.
For recording and hotkeys in every app, press Turn on when the app asks (your password, once). On a Steam Deck
the app runs in Desktop Mode. Details: docs/LINUX.md.
The automatic "Source code" archives are for building, not for running the app. Each package has a .sha256 file
next to it and a build-manifest.json inside with the source commit and a hash for every file.
What's new since 0.5.0-preview.35
- Controllers: Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and Steam Deck controllers (including the Deck's back buttons) on Windows
and Linux. A starts and stops Actions, B stops everything, Y records and X takes a screenshot, in any window; change
them under Settings → Controller. - Controller to Key page: turn any controller button into a key or mouse button, held for as long as you hold it.
- Toggles by controller: a toggle can be switched by a controller button, a key or mouse button, or both.
- A new look: pictures for keys, controller buttons and actions, a mouse picture and a controller picture to pick
buttons on, a new app icon, and buttons instead of checkboxes and dropdowns. Everything can be set with the mouse;
number fields follow the mouse wheel. - Overlay where you want it: pin the status overlay to any spot along the edge of the target window or the screen
(Settings → Overlay Anchor Point), or unlock it with its padlock and drag it. It follows the window. - F7 takes a screenshot by default.
- Many smaller fixes. The full list is in CHANGELOG.md.
Good to know
- Nothing runs until you start it. F8 starts and stops Actions, F9 stops everything, F10 records; change
them in Settings. Use Stop All before closing. - Saved macros from earlier versions open and are upgraded (macro schema 17); nothing is reset. Keep each version in
its own folder and copy the oldDatafolder next to the new one. - Not code-signed: Windows may show a SmartScreen warning the first time. Do not turn off Windows protections;

What's new since 0.5.0-preview.34.16
- Linux build: GNOME (tested on Ubuntu 26.04) and KDE Plasma 6 on Wayland, reading the same macro files as
Windows. - Wait until a colour, set up right in the Create an Action panel. Select an area on a snapshot (on any monitor
with Desktop as the target), take the colour with the Eyedropper, and use Ping scan area to see where it looks.
Test Selected Action outlines the area in green or red. A wait keeps looking for as long as it takes. - Scroll actions, and the mouse wheel is recorded.
- Repeating / Once per action: with Loop on, Once actions run only in the first loop.
- The clicker comes back to the front after a run, a test, Ping or recording that needed the target.
- Remembered choices: Loop, the Minimize and Record boxes, and the toggles you left Active come back at the next
start (armed only; nothing runs until you press a key). - Emergency stop choice: by default only Stop All (F9) stops the clicker, and your own clicks never end a run.
"Stop on my input" stops everything as soon as you touch a key or button the clicker uses. - A Help button, clearer Add Action and Save Changes, an overlay with bring-back and quit buttons, and many smaller
fixes. The full list is in CHANGELOG.md.

Minimum Effort Clicker v0.5.0-preview.34.16 (unsigned preview)
Minimum Effort Clicker 0.5.0-preview.34.16
First public preview: free, MIT-licensed source and a portable Windows 11 x64 app.
Download MinimumEffortClicker-0.5.0-preview.34.16-win-x64.zip below, extract the
complete folder and open MinimumEffortClicker.App.exe. The .NET runtime is included.
The automatic Source code archives are for building, not running the app.
Features include editable mouse/keyboard action lists, recording, independent
Hold/Spam toggles, local save/load, light/dark appearance, an optional status
overlay, and full/area screenshots. Playback requires an explicit start.
Default controls: F8 Actions start/stop, F9 Stop All, F10 recording start/stop.
Check Settings if you reassign keys. Use Stop All before exiting.
Unsigned preview: Windows may warn or block the app. No trusted publisher
signature is provided. Do not disable Windows security protections. Checksums
detect changed bytes, not publisher trust. Trusted signing is pending.
Known gaps: eight-hour full-app endurance, broader physical recording/overlap,
additional displays/DPI, suspend/session and accessibility acceptance. Some apps
ignore synthetic input or cursor-free clicks. Follow the target app's macro rules;
there is no universal compatibility or account-safety guarantee.
Keep older versions and their Data folders separate. This release uses schema 15.
Owner Data and historical unlicensed pixel assets/font are excluded. Build
provenance and per-file SHA-256 hashes are in build-manifest.json; the archive
checksum is attached separately. No account, installer or service is required.
