Mumcord is a modern desktop voice chat client for gaming groups and online communities. It is built with Rust, Tauri 2 and React/TypeScript.
Website: mumcord.app (source: mumcord-www)
Mumcord speaks the Mumble protocol. It is compatible with Mumble, but not affiliated with or endorsed by the Mumble project.

- A pure client. It works with unmodified, standard Mumble servers (murmur / mumble-server). Nothing needs to be installed or changed on the server.
- Server versions: Mumble 1.4 and newer are fully supported. Older servers connect on a best-effort basis; features they lack (for example following channels) are hidden.
- Platforms: Linux (X11 and Wayland), Windows 10/11 and macOS.
- Main window: server bar, channel list, chat and member list.
- Read text channels without joining them, by following them. Message notifications in-app or on the desktop.
- Built for big servers: search with Ctrl+K, avatar stacks, tested with 1000 people.
- AI noise suppression, echo cancellation and automatic gain, on by default.
- Push-to-talk with keyboard keys and mouse buttons, including on Wayland.
- Identity (client certificate) kept in your system's secure storage.
- All 24 official EU languages; light and dark themes.
- In-game overlay on Linux (including Steam/Proton), window overlay and "Now gaming" status. The Windows in-game overlay comes later; there is no overlay on macOS.
- Friends, full profiles with a private note, chat history sync between Mumcord clients and full-size images.
- Beta: positional audio, game plugins and full-size images.
- Built with accessibility in mind (WCAG 2.2 AA is the target).
Early development (alpha, Epic 1). Expect missing features and rough edges. macOS builds are signed and notarized since 0.4.1; Windows builds are still unsigned and show a security warning on first start (see Privacy and code signing). Epic 1 is delivered in four stages: stage 1a (everyday client) is released as v0.1.0 (alpha), v0.1.1 adds the music quality switch, stage 1b (chat features) is released as v0.2.0, and stages 1c (in-game: window overlay, in-game overlay on Linux, Now gaming, quick settings, positional audio, settings search, accessibility switches) and 1d (Mumcord-to-Mumcord and people: person menu, full profile, friends, history sync, full-size images, 24 languages, privacy step) are released as v0.3.0; hotfix v0.3.1 fixes Music quality packets and chat links on Linux. Epics 2 to 6 (multi-server read-along with shareable themes, comfort, admin, release and auto-update, GIF search) come later. See Roadmap and Features.
