@github-actions github-actions released this 05 Nov 20:38

What's new in NotChi 0.3.1

A polish release for the Overview tab.

Now Playing

  • Redesigned player: bigger cover art with a soft shadow, a bold title that can wrap to two lines, and the artist and album on their own lines. The artwork shrinks slightly while paused, so you can see the state at a glance.
  • Clearer controls: play/pause is a filled disc, and every button highlights on hover and squeezes when pressed.
  • Thicker scrub bar: it's easier to grab, and it grows when you hover or drag.
  • Source app badge: the icon of the app that's playing sits on the corner of the artwork. Click it to open that app.

Calendar

  • New date tile: the weekday, the day number and the month are now the same width, each in its own font size, like the macOS Calendar widget.

Updating from 0.3.0

  • Replace NotChi in Applications with the new version. You may need to repeat the Gatekeeper steps once.
  • If auto-paste or the menu-aware wings stop working, macOS may see the update as a new app. Go to Privacy & Security → Accessibility, remove NotChi with −, and add it again.

Install

Download NotChi.dmg below, drag NotChi into Applications, then follow the Gatekeeper steps on first launch. The app isn't signed with a paid Apple Developer ID.

Requires macOS 14 or later.

v0.3.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 28 Oct 19:03

What's new in NotChi 0.3.0

Text tools (Dev → Text): eight everyday developer utilities that open on whatever you just copied.

  • Picks the right tool for you: copy a JSON blob, a JWT, a timestamp, a color or a Base64 string, open Text, and the matching tool is already chosen. You can switch tools from the menu at any time.
  • JSON: format with 2 spaces, 4 spaces or tabs, or minify. Key order and numbers stay exactly as you wrote them, and errors point to the line.
  • JWT: decoded header and payload, with expiry and issue times as readable dates and an "expired" tag.
  • Base64 and URL: encode or decode with one switch. URLs are also broken into host, path and query.
  • Time: Unix seconds or milliseconds to UTC, local and relative time, and back.
  • Hash, UUID and Color: MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256 and SHA-512; inspect or generate UUIDs; convert colors between Hex, RGB and HSL.
  • From Clipboard: hover a text item and click the wand to open it in Text.
  • Private: passwords and other copies that clipboard history ignores are never loaded, and nothing you paste is saved or sent anywhere. You can turn off automatic tool picking in Settings → Dev.

Also new

  • Liquid Glass redesign: tabs sit in a segmented track with a sliding glass pill, the header buttons and dropdowns are glass, and the system stats sit in their own capsule. Older macOS versions get a plain translucent look.
  • Slimmer stash bar: it takes less room when empty and shows a dashed outline only while you drag something over it. The iPhone and Android send targets now match its height.

Updating from 0.2.0

  • Replace NotChi in Applications with the new version. You may need to repeat the Gatekeeper steps once.
  • If auto-paste or the menu-aware wings stop working, macOS may see the update as a new app. Go to Privacy & Security → Accessibility, remove NotChi with −, and add it again.

Install

Download NotChi.dmg below, drag NotChi into Applications, then follow the Gatekeeper steps on first launch. The app isn't signed with a paid Apple Developer ID.

Requires macOS 14 or later.

@github-actions github-actions released this 26 Oct 15:22

What's new in NotChi 0.2.0

Overview tab (now the first tab): Now Playing and Calendar side by side.

  • Now Playing: the current track from Music, Spotify, browsers and other players, with artwork, play/pause/skip and a scrub bar. While music plays, the artwork and a small equalizer sit beside the notch.
  • Calendar: today's date, what's on now or next with a one-click Join for Zoom, Google Meet, Teams and Webex, and the rest of your day.
  • Reminders: reminders due today and overdue ones, with a circle to tick them off.
  • Countdowns beside the notch: from 5 minutes before any event or timed reminder, until a minute after it starts.

Also new

  • Dev tab: developer tools now live here, starting with Port Sniper. Don't code? Turn it off in Settings → Dev.
  • Stats are now compact numbers next to the settings button, and still sit beside the closed notch.
  • Tabs: a sliding Liquid Glass tab bar on macOS 26 and later, and a plain sliding pill on older macOS.
  • New icon: the NotChi logo in Settings → About and a new menu bar icon.

Fixes

  • The wings beside the notch no longer cover app menus, including Xcode's.

Updating from 0.1.0

  • If auto-paste or the menu-aware wings stop working, macOS may see the update as a new app. Go to Privacy & Security → Accessibility, remove NotChi with −, and add it again.
  • Calendar and Reminders ask for access only when you click Allow in the notch. Your events never leave your Mac.

Requires macOS 14 or later.

What's in NotChi

A command center that lives in your MacBook's notch. Hover over the notch, or press ⌥⌘N, to open it.

  • Clipboard: automatic history of text, rich text, code, links, images and files, with search and type filters. Click an item to paste it into the app you're using.
  • Stash: a drop zone at the top of the panel. Drag files, images or text in, pin what you want to keep, and drag items back out anywhere.
  • Ports: lists the local dev servers that are listening, with a live health check and latency for each. One click kills a stuck process.
  • Stats: CPU, memory pressure and network up/down next to the notch, with sparklines in the panel.
  • Phone transfer: send and receive files with your iPhone (AirDrop) or Android phone (Quick Share).

Install

Download NotChi.dmg below, drag NotChi into Applications, then follow the Gatekeeper steps on first launch. The app isn't signed with a paid Apple Developer ID.
