Fixed

• Keep Ponytail mode state in memory instead of writing required custom session events. Removing the plugin no longer makes newly written conversations depend on it.
• Remove mutation of the Host event catalog. Standard request-header events still preserve the actual model prompt used by each request.
• Ship a dry-run-by-default, backup-preserving repair tool for legacy ponytail/mode events, supporting raw and concatenated-Zstandard logs.

Compatibility / behavior

• Verified on DSH 0.1.2-alpha.4 and 0.1.2-rc.1.
• Per-session mode selections reset to the configured default after a Host restart. Optional projection-based startup notices are unavailable.
• Upgrading does not rewrite old logs. Logs written by 0.2.4 and earlier may require the documented offline repair. Test a copy and stop the owning Host before applying; do not delete events or bypass all unknown-event validation.

Validation

• Full pnpm run check: 31 tests, typecheck, build, Host/client loader smokes, fresh-Host uninstall regression, package and clean-consumer installation checks.
• Real-browser rc.1 canary: mode command, actual model response, profile-scoped uninstall, refresh, cold restart and continued conversation. Original event prefix preserved; no custom mode events; policy absent after uninstall.

Restart an already running Host after adding or removing a bundle. In DSH rc.1, patchReload: live reloads user patch files, not the startup-captured bundle manifest. Wait for other active conversations to finish before restarting. A slash-command-like model reply is not proof that a native command was registered.
