Spawn Dimension
The spawn-dimension selector is an experimental feature for singleplayer and LAN hosts. Dedicated servers do not have the create-world screen; use the command instead.
When experimental.enableSpawnDimensionSelector is enabled (default), the More tab
shows a button below Game Rules / Experiments / Data Packs:
Spawn dimension: Overworld (experimental)
Clicking it cycles:
Overworld -> The Nether -> The End -> Overworld
The choice is stored in the world's betterspawn_world_spawn SavedData.
A new player is placed in the Overworld by vanilla first. On their first join, the mod
teleports them once to the selected dimension's default spawn. The player is then marked
with initialDimensionApplied in their persisted data.
Existing players are not moved. If the selected spawn has not been resolved yet, the
dimension initializer resolves it at ServerStartedEvent.
Use:
/betterspawn worldspawn spawn_dimension [<dimension>]
- Without a dimension: query.
- With a dimension: set it for future first joins.
This only affects players who have not yet been marked as having the initial dimension applied. It does not change the respawn priority or a player's current position.
- The GUI lists the three vanilla dimensions; the command can use any loaded dimension.
- The selector is a process-local client value, so it only feeds the integrated server of the same singleplayer/LAN host. There is no dedicated-server GUI.
- The new-player check uses play time plus the persisted marker; unusual player-data migrations may need a manual reset.
- This is experimental and may change in a future version.
