Proving Ground Recompiled 1.0.1

@Newbie1337x Newbie1337x released this 05 Nov 16:41

A small fix release for the launcher.

Fixes

  • No more crash with an incomplete game folder (#1). If the folder you choose has default.xex but not the rest of the disc, the launcher now tells you the DATA folder is missing instead of letting the game start and crash. Extract the whole disc image, so default.xex sits next to the DATA folder.
  • Game folders with accents or other non-English characters (for example Área de Trabalho) are now remembered correctly. Before, the launcher could lose the folder and ask for it again.

How to play

  1. Download ProvingGroundRecomp-1.0.1-windows-x64.zip and extract it anywhere (you can replace your 1.0.0 folder; your settings in pg.toml are kept if you copy it over).
  2. Run ProvingGround.exe. In the launcher, click Browse... and choose your extracted game folder.
  3. Press Play.

No game files are included: you need your own Xbox 360 copy of the game. See PLAYING.md for the options, controls and troubleshooting.

Tony Hawk's Proving Ground, statically recompiled from the Xbox 360 release into a native Windows program. No game files are included: you need your own Xbox 360 copy of the game, extracted to a folder (it must contain default.xex).

How to play

  1. Download ProvingGroundRecomp-1.0.0-windows-x64.zip and extract it anywhere.
  2. Run ProvingGround.exe. In the launcher, click Browse... and choose your extracted game folder.
  3. Press Play.

See PLAYING.md for the options, controls and troubleshooting.

What's in it

  • Launcher in its own window: game folder, language (follows your system's), display mode, monitor, frame rate, renderer, internal resolution, texture filtering, anti-aliasing.
  • Renderers: Vulkan (main) and Direct3D 12.
  • AMD FSR as anti-aliasing: FSR 3.1 on Vulkan, FSR 4 on Direct3D 12 (the newest your GPU driver supports), with sharpness.
  • Frame rate: 30 (original), 60 up to 240 or unlimited, with cutscenes and physics at their original speed.
  • Controllers: Xbox, PlayStation (with PlayStation button icons when one is connected) and other SDL controllers; keyboard play with rebindable keys.
  • Insert opens the options menu in game; F11 switches fullscreen.

Requirements

Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), a Vulkan-capable GPU with a current driver, and a CPU with SSE4.2 (any x86-64 CPU from about 2010 onward). A controller is recommended.
