@carychang carychang released this 05 Oct 00:11

Nexus Mobile 0.1.2-beta.2

Signed Android Beta fixing live-screen startup and background-sync crashes. This is a non-debuggable, minified release APK, not a stable/device-compatibility certification.

Fixes

  • Preserve WebRTC JNI Zero entry points during release optimization, fixing native initialization crashes after screen-sharing consent.
  • Handle Android's background dataSync time limit by stopping promptly without waiting for Cloud. Preserve pairing and pending results, reject late state updates, and explain how to resume explicitly from the app.
  • Distinguish an enabled Accessibility setting from a connected control service. Refresh readiness after reconnection and show a targeted recovery action without requiring new pairing.
  • Verify actual JNI class definitions before release, and add isolated minified-release crash regression tests.

Download and upgrade

  • Install nexus-mobile-0.1.2-beta.2.apk below. Android 8.0+; one-time screenshots require Android 11+.
  • The application ID and original release signer are unchanged. Update an existing signed beta with an in-place installation; do not uninstall first if you want to retain pairing.
  • Debug builds have a different signer and cannot update in place to this APK.
  • Live video still requires compatible Cloud/Web, explicit Android screen-sharing consent and, on some networks, TURN. Installing this update grants no system permission automatically.
  • At Android's background-sync time limit, open Nexus Mobile and choose Start sync. The app will not automatically restart against an exhausted system quota.

SHA256SUMS covers the APK and public certificate. The .der file is not a private key.

Validation and remaining limits

  • 47 Android unit tests and 29 Python tooling tests passed. Release lint: zero errors, 14 warnings. Release build, manifest boundaries, branding, JNI definitions and original signature verified.
  • Android 14 emulator: signed 0.1.2-beta.1 to 0.1.2-beta.2 replacement install passed, with unchanged first-install identity, synthetic encrypted pairing and system permission state. This is not a physical-phone upgrade claim.
  • Real native WebRTC factory initialization and timeout-handler shutdown passed on an isolated Android 14 emulator using a minified, debug-signed smoke build. That smoke APK is not distributed.
  • Timeout smoke verifies pairing retention, prompt shutdown, late network response rejection and explicit resume. It does not prove timeout-during-action outbox continuity.
  • Samsung screen-consent acceptance and Android 15+ system-enforced timeout remain pending. The API 34 smoke invokes the timeout callback directly.
  • Full physical-device Cloud/video/NAT acceptance, real camera scanning and broad OEM compatibility were not repeated for this release.

Nexus Mobile 0.1.2-beta.1

Signed Android Beta with live screen sharing and expanded remote actions. This is a non-debuggable release APK, not a stable/device-compatibility certification.

What's new

  • Android MediaProjection capture, WebRTC signaling and live screen playback with compatible Nexus Cloud/Web.
  • Live-screen click/swipe control, Home, Recents and long press, subject to approved scopes and advertised device capabilities.
  • Bounded ICE queues, connection recovery and stale screen-geometry rejection.
  • Offline command outbox and capability checks; explicit screen-sharing consent remains required.
  • Keeps the bundled Google-independent QR scanner and simple permission guidance.

Download and upgrade

  • Install nexus-mobile-0.1.2-beta.1.apk below. Requires Android 8.0+; screenshots require Android 11+.
  • The release uses the original signing certificate. Existing signed beta installations can update in place without uninstalling.
  • Debug builds use a different certificate and cannot be upgraded to this signed APK in place. Preserve needed data before migrating a debug installation.
  • Live video requires compatible Cloud/Web. Cross-NAT media may require TURN; no claim of universal NAT traversal without it.
  • Android screen sharing must be approved on the phone. Installing or pairing does not grant Accessibility, Camera or notification permissions automatically.
  • Expanded SDK actions require nexilume>=0.49.0. SDK actions do not carry video frames.

SHA256SUMS covers the APK and public certificate. The .der asset is a public certificate, not the private signing key.

Validation and remaining limits

  • 43 Android unit tests passed. Release lint: zero errors, 14 warnings.
  • Original signing certificate, release-only manifest, disabled cleartext/backup and branding resources verified.
  • Android 14 emulator: beta.2 → 0.1.2-beta.1 replacement install, unchanged first-install identity, synthetic encrypted pairing retention and permission-state continuity verified. No system permission was auto-granted.
  • This release check did not repeat physical-device Cloud pairing/control, real camera scanning on Google-free phones, OEM restricted-settings/background behavior, the full Android device matrix or full live-video/NAT end-to-end acceptance.
  • No claim of production readiness or completed physical-device compatibility certification.

@carychang carychang released this 04 Oct 01:31

Nexus Mobile 0.1.1-beta.2

Signed Android Beta with a Google-independent QR scanner and simpler permission setup. This is a non-debuggable release APK, not a stable/device-compatibility certification.

What's new

  • Bundled QR scanner: no Google Play services or scanner-module download needed.
  • Step-by-step Camera, Accessibility and notification guidance, with English and Simplified Chinese messages.
  • Permissions remain visible on the home screen; opening Settings does not count as granting access.
  • Simpler home screen and dialogs; pairing or starting synchronization does not automatically request notifications.
  • Scanner cancellation preserves the current pairing. QR screens reject screen capture; pairing credentials are not logged.

Download and upgrade

  • Install nexus-mobile-0.1.1-beta.2.apk below. Requires Android 8.0+; screenshots require Android 11+.
  • Existing signed 0.1.1-beta.1 installations can update in place with the same signing certificate. No uninstall is needed.
  • Debug builds use a different certificate and cannot be upgraded to this signed APK in place. Decide how to preserve needed data before migrating a debug installation.
  • Pair with a trusted HTTPS Nexus Cloud and explicitly approve Android permissions and Cloud scopes. Camera is requested only inside the scanner.

Nexus Mobile 0.1.1-beta.1 — signed Android APK

Choose a tag to compare

@carychang carychang released this 03 Oct 15:16

Nexus Mobile 0.1.1-beta.1

First downloadable, signed Android Beta. This is a release build, not a debug APK. Install only if you are comfortable testing prerelease software and granting Android Accessibility access explicitly.

Download and install

  • Download nexus-mobile-0.1.1-beta.1.apk below. Android 8.0 (API 26) or newer is required; the QR scanner requires Google Play services. One-time screenshots require Android 11+.
  • Android may ask you to allow installation from your browser or file manager. Review this source and the privacy guide before enabling Accessibility.
  • Create a Mobile pairing QR in your own Nexus Cloud, scan it, confirm the identity, and grant only the permissions required by your Agent.
  • Release pairing requires trusted HTTPS; insecure HTTP development endpoints are not enabled.

What's included

  • Nexus/Nexilume launcher logo with adaptive round/squircle masking.
  • Android 13+ monochrome themed icon and branded foreground-sync notification icon.
  • Version name 0.1.1-beta.1, versionCode 2, application ID com.nexus.mobile.
  • APK verification checks for release-only components, disabled backups/cleartext, branding resources and the expected signer.

Integrity and signing

APK SHA-256:

7536f39a7c308c6f578f0946a730d096ab8e4f61647f67208f586bf423ff426c

SHA256SUMS covers the download assets. The .der file contains the public signing certificate, not a private key. Future updates must preserve this signing identity. Checksums detect corrupted bytes, not an independently authenticated publisher.

A previous debug installation uses a different key and cannot be updated in place with this APK. Back up any needed data and explicitly decide whether to remove that debug build; do not uninstall a working installation blindly.

Validation and limits

  • JDK 17 / Gradle 8.9 / Android SDK 36 release build and release lint completed. Lint has 13 warnings and one informational finding, no errors; toolchain/dependency warnings remain visible.
  • Nine Android unit tests and six APK-verifier tests passed.
  • Signature, compiled manifest and adaptive/monochrome/notification resources verified.
  • The attached verification report records the final APK's Android 14 emulator installation and launcher checks.
  • Not verified: physical phone end-to-end pairing/control, OEM background behavior, Android 8-13 device matrix, themed-icon rendering across OEM launchers, and upgrade continuity from a prior public signed release (this is the first).
  • No claim of production readiness, a full dependency security audit or successful Cloud/mobile end-to-end acceptance is made by this Beta.
