Mellow platform v0.2.0-dev - Xe port and verified OpenCL runtime
Pre-releaseThis release adds an actual, bounded Linux Xe driver-subsystem port and a native OpenCL provider for Mellow — Metal Emulation Layer Logic for OpenGL/OpenCL Workloads.
Executed and verified
- Linux Xe source pin
0d9ff90a5422cc7509258aaaba1e7481df4d332a: six original page-entry functions plus adapted SG GGTT bind/unmap logic, preserving upstream source and MIT notices. Host and actual QEMU Linux guest runs each pass 18,721 checks with explicitly simulated MMIO/DMA boundaries. - Existing XeMemory PTE/PDE helpers now call the ported algorithms. Mellow.kext 0.4.2 builds from all 31 target units with Clang/cctools ld64 as a real x86_64 MH_KEXT_BUNDLE. The new artifact adds no unresolved import names. Existing memory/page-table/context/dispatch tests pass.
- The native Windows OpenCL C provider runs through MellowRT planning, actual GPU enqueue/event/readback and completion tracking. 10,000 consecutive submissions / 2,560,000 uint results pass, with independent Python stream-hash verification. Intel driver 32.0.101.6737 reports GPU 8086:7D41 through its advertised device-ID extension.
- 108 policy checks and 45 lifecycle/cleanup regressions pass under ASan/UBSan. Six worker-report tests, 19 QEMU protocol controls and five actual QEMU failure controls reject incomplete or contradictory evidence.
- Code review fixes cover stale identity after reinitialization, cleanup errors before completion publication, crash/timeout uncertainty, sample/summary correlation and input/source hash changes.
Scope
This is a development release of implemented stages, not complete Tahoe or Metal validation. The Windows provider uses the installed Intel Windows driver and accepts OpenCL C; it is not MSL/AIR/Metal JIT and does not execute the ported Darwin backend. QEMU executes the CPU-side algorithms, not a Xe GPU model. The kext was cross-built and structurally checked, not loaded into Tahoe.
Physical Darwin DMA/IOMMU/GuC/interrupt/fence execution, a complete Linux driver port, Mellow Metal objects/JIT/rendering, WindowServer/scanout and Galaxy Book Tahoe installation remain unverified or unimplemented. Hardware reset/page-fault counters not observed by these tests are not reported as zero. This release does not automatically change EFI or firmware.
