Linqo 0.5.0 — Automatic Captions and Source Text
Linqo 0.5.0 — automatic captions and source text
Active-development prerelease. Saves now fetch supported public source text automatically, rather than requiring you to paste captions manually.
Changes
- Public Instagram captions, structured recipe ingredients/steps, readable webpage text, public place details where exposed and YouTube descriptions populate Content for extraction.
- Save immediately; fetching, parsing, persistence and optional summarization continue in the background. No model is needed to fetch source text.
- With an installed model, English summarization queues automatically after source text arrives. Two inference threads, serial processing and Stop/background guards remain. Settings and per-save controls allow opting out.
- Preserve personal notes and manually edited source text. Retain sender text alongside fetched content; make the resulting text searchable.
- Preserve saves/settings in SQLite v4 migration. Existing empty link sources become eligible for fetching; foreground recovery retries unavailable public content with a one-minute cooldown.
- Prefer Instagram's fuller public captioned embed over a shortened metadata excerpt. Label partial/excerpt results and distinguish YouTube descriptions from transcripts.
Verification
98 host tests pass, including delayed fetching, final recipe steps, source ownership, migrations and automatic queueing with a fake runtime/two threads. Static analysis is clean. Android emulator share → save → source-content checks pass without a model, including the previously supplied Instagram post (1,084 caption characters), a structured recipe (1,430 characters) and a YouTube description (229 characters).
These are observed public fixtures, not universal provider coverage. No new physical-phone AI accuracy/performance benchmark is claimed. The existing native inference engine is unchanged.
Install and limits
Download the ARM64 APK for Android 10/API 29 or newer. Install over the existing app to retain data. Do not uninstall or clear storage to update. The signing identity remains the same development identity used for earlier previews; this is not a production/Play Store release.
No model is bundled or downloaded automatically. The optional compact model remains about 397 MB. Source fetching is bounded to two jobs/ten seconds and 1 MiB HTML per response; up to 30,000 source characters are retained. AI summarization accepts at most 8,000 characters and remains subject to the smaller model token budget. Long source text remains saved and editable.
Private/login-only content may expose no source text. YouTube descriptions are not subtitle transcripts; no video/audio transcription, OCR or login bypass is added. Export/backup, sync and native iOS support remain future work.
Keep the accompanying THIRD_PARTY_LICENSES.txt with redistributed APKs. SHA256SUMS.txt verifies the attached APK and license bundle.
Linqo 0.4.1 — Early Preview
Linqo 0.4.1 — early preview
Linqo is still in active development. This is the first public source/APK preview, not a finished store release.
Included
- Persistent local saves, favourites, collections and indexed search.
- Android text/link sharing, automatic titles and genuine cached previews where public providers allow them.
- Cheerful mascot icon, full-logo startup and lavender/purple light/dark Flutter UI.
- Optional English on-device extraction. No model is bundled or downloaded automatically; the optional compact model download is about 397 MB.
- Buy Me a Coffee support in Settings, README and GitHub funding, plus an open-source licenses screen.
Reliability fixes
- Startup metadata recovery now traverses all pending saves in bounded pages, rather than stopping after the newest sixteen.
- Replacing an attachment removes its old private copy only after the new save commits; a failed replacement preserves the original.
Download and install
Choose Linqo-v0.4.1-android-arm64.apk for an ARM64 phone running Android 10/API 29 or later. APK: 71,844,380 bytes (about 68.5 MiB). SHA256SUMS.txt is attached for verification.
Install in place to retain saves/settings. Do not uninstall or clear app data to update. This preview retains the existing development signing identity for compatibility with earlier test installs; it is not production/Play Store signed. Fork-built APKs use their own local key and may not update this installation.
Verification and limits
86 host tests pass, static analysis is clean, and emulator support/licenses checks pass in light/dark and 2× text. Packaging checks confirm no bundled model or test/signing secrets. No new model-speed or accuracy benchmark is claimed.
Public Instagram/website previews are best effort, and a thumbnail does not provide a caption/transcript. Extraction needs supplied English text and sufficient device memory; generated results need review. Export/backup, sync, readable webpage extraction, full captions, OCR, transcription and native iOS support remain unimplemented. Keep originals of important files: clearing app data/uninstalling removes local data.
See the README and release review for build instructions and remaining work.
Original code is Apache-2.0; dependencies, fonts and model weights retain their own licenses.

Native llama.cpp/ggml attribution supplements Flutter’s generated list in the attached THIRD_PARTY_LICENSES.txt. Keep that accompanying license bundle with the APK when redistributing it. The APK checksum is unchanged.
