New installer: one small download, small updates, foliage and AMD fixes
A new installer: one small download
Download HookshotBuilder.exe (170 KB) and run it. That's the only file you need: it downloads the builder and its tools (about 460 MB, once), checks every part against its checksum, and opens the new Hookshot window.
If you have an older Hookshot Builder, its update button will ask you to download the new version yourself this one time; after that, updates are automatic and small.
- Finds your game files by itself: .nup files in Downloads, Desktop, Documents and the top of each drive, each with its version checked. Browse or drag and drop still work.
- Game files › Build › Play in one window, with the time left, Play, and Desktop and Start menu shortcuts at the end.
- Small updates: the game's update offer now downloads only what changed (about 4 MB when only Hookshot's code changed), and only changed files are compiled again. A test update took 3 minutes instead of 39, and your current game stays playable until the new one is complete.
- Antivirus problems are named as such, with a Repair button that downloads any removed tool again. The "Windows SDK was not found" error no longer appears when an antivirus removed the compiler.
Game fixes
- Missing tree leaves and foliage (#35): the game could not list its own folders, so it saw no leaf files. Found independently by Evil's fork, NX2navi and PR #436.
- AMD fixes from sharkiix: shader translation fixes for AMD GPUs.
- Crash logs are kept:
hookshot_log.1.txtto.4.txthold the previous runs, so a log from a crash survives a restart. Please sendhookshot_log.1.txtif the game crashed and you started it again.
