Adding Concept IDs for MonkeyPox

We are requesting that the following codes be added to the next vocabulary release -they are all focused on adding codes for MonkeyPox.

Event: Code Type Code
MonkeyPox testing: HCPCS/CPT 87593
MonkeyPox vaccine: ACAM2000 HCPCS/CPT 90622
MonkeyPox vaccine: JYNNESOS HCCPS/CPT 90611
MonkeyPox treatment: NDC 50072001030

We are of course focusing a lot of resources to studying MonkeyPox - so updating the requisite vocabulary is critical to us. @cgreich @TinyRickC137

Hi @krevett-iqvia ,
apparently the codes that you are showing may only appear in CPT4 and while we wanted to refresh, our source data in UMLS has not been updated in the AA release of UMLS this year, but we will have to wait for the AB release. The NDC item is in Athena now, after the last release. The vaccines can be found as standard concepts in RxNorm of course. I guess we have to be a little patient until the new codes show up in the sources. Hope this helps!

Given the urgency around it, let’s add the stuff to the OMOP Extension and push it with the technical release planned on the next week.

We have checked on our end to see whether the MonkeyPox vocab has been augmented to include the set of codes included in the original ticket - what we find available are the following: concept_code 90611 (RxNorm) and 50072001030 (NDC). What is the current status wrt to the set of codes? I believe you are planning to MonkeyPox vaccine codes as an OMOP extension? Could you let me know what the current status of that process is please? Thank you - this is an urgent request!!!

would you be open to come together for a meeting and discuss strategies for you to cope with the missing CPT4 codes for a period of time?
Creating this in OMOP extension is not really helpful, for one given the fact that in about 1 month it starts becoming available in UMLS (and shortly after it could appear in Athena) and then the only thing this would improve is availability with a normal concept ID vs a 2 billion local one so that for one month you could use it for network studies. If you are however doing research on your own datasets, it is not really making a difference.
