CDT - Code on Dental Procedures and Nomenclature

Also known as Current Dental Terminology, the Code on Dental Procedures and Nomenclature is produced and maintained by the American Dental Association (ADA). This is a license restricted vocabulary and users have to obtain a license from ADA.

It is included in Level II of the Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) as HCDT.

HCPCS and CDT in the Athena vocabularies

HCPCS and CDT share the same code format, but have been separated into different vocabularies in Athena. Previously introduced CDT concept entries (codes starting with the letter "D") remain in the HCPCS vocabulary as non-standard / invalid.
