l4d2vr-1.2.2-full.zip |
Full release: the mod, both installers, the Linux server plugin and the guide. The installer falls back to the bundled mod when GitHub can't be reached. |

l4d2vr.zip |
The mod by itself, for extracting into the game folder manually. |
l4d2vr-server-linux.zip |
Dedicated server plugin; extract into the server folder. It replaces l4d2vr_pose_server. Update it: the reload changes need this version on the server. |

New in 1.2.2
- Holsters, Pavlov VR layout:
- Hips, chest pockets and back, measured from Pavlov VR. They follow your head and stay put when you look down, so you can see what's on your chest and hips.
- The holstered items are now drawn, and a haptic tick plays when your hand reaches one.
- Either hand can grip at any holster: the item there comes to your hand, and what you held goes back to its own holster.
- The spare magazine or shell pouch is on the off-hand hip.
- Toggle grips (
GripToggle, on by default): a firm squeeze takes an item, the next squeeze holsters, swaps or drops it. On the Index the grip needs a real squeeze, so resting your hand doesn't count. - Reloading, tuned to Pavlov VR per gun:
- A reload takes the full process: a fresh magazine in, then the slide, bolt or pump. Racking alone never loads a round.
- The release button drops one magazine; its rounds go back to your reserve.
- Spare magazines and shells come out of the pouch the way they sit in the gun, lined up with the well in a natural reload pose.
- Magazine slap on the AK-47, SG552 and military sniper: take a fresh magazine with the old one still in, and strike the old one out (
MagazineSlapEnabled). - Whatever the next step needs glows with a soft, steady tint: the empty magazine, the spare, then the slide or pump.
- A shot the server never fired (for example right after drawing) no longer asks for a rack or pump. Before, racking after a dropped last shot seemed to load a round from nowhere.
- The two-handed grip lets go when your support hand moves 20 cm from the foregrip, so the same hand can fetch a shotgun shell.
- Melee: motion only. Guns never play the swing or bash animation; the sound and hit still happen.
- Wrist HUD: uses the game's own health bars and font with full teammate names, including long ones. Your own bar is the large one.
- Controls: right stick forward jumps, right stick down toggles crouch (
StickJumpCrouch,StickCrouchToggle); the grips are only for gripping. Point at menus with either controller and click with the trigger. - Fixes: a first aid kit drawn from the back no longer floats in front of you; picking up items by touch works again; the glow is no longer a flickering pink.
- Config: a few magazine settings are reset to the new defaults on first start (pouch reach 20 cm, magazine well 10 cm and 45°, holster haptics). Your per-gun calibrations are kept.
Tested
Online on a dedicated Linux server with the plugin, with a simulated headset and the built-in -l4d2vrselftest, using hand-driven reloads and screenshots that were reviewed:
- Full reloads on the M16, AK-47, pistol, pump and auto shotgun: running dry, dropping the magazine, inserting a fresh one, racking. Racking alone doesn't reload, and an empty gun never reloads by itself. The reload set passed 53 of 53 checks in three runs in a row.
- The AK-47 slap, and letting go of a spare with the old magazine still in.
- Held-magazine alignment on 12 guns (5° from the well).
- Holster draws, swaps and drops with either hand; grips; touch pickups; no swing or bash animation; the wrist HUD (32 of 32 checks).
- 68 C++ unit test suites pass on MSVC.
Not yet tested
- In a real headset: how the holster positions, glow, wrist HUD placement and bash threshold feel.
- The SG552 and MP5, and left-handed mode.
