Hextrix v1.1.2

Choose a tag to compare

@atif-1402 atif-1402 released this 17 Oct 12:34

Maintenance release — a flexible sweep command, a security fix, and the move to the OpenRootdev org.

What's new

  • hextrix sweep reworked with flags (and positional shorthand). Duration and accent color are now configurable, with sensible defaults:

    hextrix sweep -s 1 -c 4      # 1s wipe, blue accent
    hextrix sweep -c cyan # default length, cyan accent
    hextrix sweep 0.5 magenta    # positional form of -s 0.5 -c magenta
    hextrix sweep # defaults: 1.0s, red
    • -s / --seconds sets the duration (0.1–60, default 1.0).
    • -c / --color picks the accent: 1–9 or a name (red, green, yellow, blue, magenta, cyan, white, bright red, bright magenta); default red.
    • hextrix sweep --help prints its own usage.
    • The old hextrix sweep <seconds> form still works.
  • Security fix (CodeQL). Promoted the token-rate multiply to double in the frame loop so the intermediate product can no longer overflow float before widening. The CodeQL alert auto-resolved after the scan.

Changed

  • Installer, uninstaller, and README badge/clone URLs updated for the OpenRootdev org move.
  • README polish: Ko-fi support badge and section, tidied layout.

Hextrix v1.1.0

@atif-1402 atif-1402 released this 13 Oct 15:25

Second release — adds the one-shot sweep mode and control polish.

What's new

  • hextrix sweep <duration> — one-shot intro effect: lights a random, incomplete subset of the grid instantly (lots of empty cells), then a wavy front rolls down from above and washes the grid — already moving on the first frame, accelerating as it falls — and exits cleanly when done. q / Esc / Ctrl+C aborts early. Works with -a for alphanumeric tokens.
  • ← / → — fluid speed control (0.15×–4×), with on-screen flash.
  • ? toggles help alongside h; Esc closes the overlay and no longer stalls the animation (escdelay fix).
  • Switching hints now sit on a dim plate so they stay readable over the tokens.
  • Test-harness parser fixed (CSI J / K parameters).

Install

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/OpenRootdev/hextrix/main/install.sh | sh

Uninstall:

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/OpenRootdev/hextrix/main/uninstall.sh | sh

Needs git, make, a C11 compiler and ncursesw. MIT licensed — full docs in the README.

Hextrix v1.0.0

@atif-1402 atif-1402 released this 13 Oct 03:43

First release of Hextrix — a fluid color toy for the terminal.

A dense grid of two-character hex tokens (a frozen memory dump) whose colors flow like liquid: curl-noise dye field, PipeWire audio reactivity (bass/mid/treble), three visualizer modes (liquid, wave, rain), nine accent colors, fluid-speed and token-rate ladders, help overlay, clean terminal restore on exit.

Install

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/OpenRootdev/hextrix/main/install.sh | sh

Uninstall:

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/OpenRootdev/hextrix/main/uninstall.sh | sh

Needs git, make, a C11 compiler and ncursesw (on Arch: sudo pacman -S --needed base-devel ncurses git). Installs into ~/.local/bin.
