Release list
VRCForward 0.1.2
VRCForward (VRCF) lets you use Unity 6 to build and publish VRChat avatars.
What's new in 0.1.2
- Fixed: expression parameter settings resetting. With VRChat SDK 3.10.6 in Unity 6, just viewing an Expression Parameters asset reset each parameter's Bit Width and Representation to their defaults. They now stay as you set them. If you used 0.1.1, check those two settings once before your next upload.
Install
You need Unity 6000.0.67f1 with Windows Build Support (Mono), and VRChat Base + Avatars SDK 3.10.5 or 3.10.6 in the project.
- VCC or ALCOM: add
https://pandaxeyed.github.io/vpm/index.jsonunder Settings > Packages > Add Repository, then add VRCForward to your Unity 6 project. - New project: use
io.github.pandaxeyed.vrcforward-0.1.2-unity6-project.zipbelow. - Without VCC or ALCOM: in Unity Package Manager choose + > Add package from tarball… and select
io.github.pandaxeyed.vrcforward-0.1.2.tgz.
The user guide covers each step.

VRCForward 0.1.1
VRCForward (VRCF) lets you use Unity 6 to build and publish VRChat avatars.
Work on your avatar in Unity 6, then upload it the way you already do: Build & Test or Build & Publish in the normal VRChat SDK panel. VRCForward gets your avatar's Unity 6 features ready during the build.
What's new in 0.1.1
- VRChat SDK 3.10.6. VRCForward now works with VRChat Base + Avatars SDK 3.10.6 as well as 3.10.5. Native face tracking, its animator behaviours and the new expression parameter options stay intact when VRCForward prepares your avatar.
- Fixed: VRCForward stopping after a script reload. If Unity reloaded scripts while VRCForward's settings were loaded, for example with its window open, VRCForward stopped working until you restarted Unity.
- New license. VRCForward is now free software under the GNU GPL v3, with attribution and naming terms in ADDITIONAL-TERMS.md.
- Updated starter project. The Unity 6 starter project now locks VRChat Base + Avatars SDK 3.10.6.
- Clearer user guide. It now covers setting up Unity 6 in VCC and opening the starter project in VCC or ALCOM.
Known issue in Unity 6: the SDK's Expression Parameters inspector can reset a parameter's Bit Width and Representation to their defaults when you view it. Check both before you upload.
What you can do
- Make avatars in Unity 6. Build & Test and Build & Publish from the normal VRChat SDK panel, like always.
- Use Unity's Audio Random Containers. Let one sound source pick a different clip each time, or play through a playlist.
- Cap texture array sizes. Set mip limits on texture arrays, so they don't always load at full size.
- Use negative values in textures. Give shaders signed texture data directly, without packing it into regular color textures.
- Test in your own client. Build & Test copies the avatar to your local VRChat client, on Windows or Linux/Proton.
- Catch edits that would break it. If an edit would break an open avatar, VRCForward keeps the previous setting and tells you why.
- Avatar check. Lists what VRCForward will prepare, and anything that blocks the build.
- Build history. Compares size, build time, editor and SDK versions across past builds.
- Client profiles. Save named profiles to switch between VRChat installations or Proton prefixes.
- Scene autosave. Optional and off by default. Keeps rotating recovery copies while you work.
