The folder-applications icons are english-centric

The current folder-applications icons are folders with a capital "A" on them. This is very english-centric as not every language uses a word beginning with "A" for the applications directory. German, for example, generally uses "Programme" beginning with a "P".

Not only is it English-centric, the letter "A" doesn't really seem to indicate "Applications"

Perhaps the start-here grid icon could be placed on a folder

Maybe you can use a triangle (like Google Play) or the symbols that the new GNOME Software icon is using. The A icon is universally known for the App Store and is therefor Apple-centric.
