I found some crufty code that doesn't seem to do anything useful. I assume that whatever this code is supposed to implement, it isn't supported behavior, since none of the tests broke when I removed it.

This looks awesome!
Will take a deeper look on Monday. Can I ask you to sign the CLA in the meantime? It would block this PR from being merged in.

Yeah, sorry, signing the CLA is against my religion.

It was just a bunch of deletions. Took maybe 5 minutes to create the PR.
