New in 0.2.0

  • Online multiplayer over the internet. Create Server → Internet opens a room on the project's relay;
friends anywhere choose Join Server and pick it (or type its code, MH-XXXX). No port forwarding.
PC and Android play together. This network still makes LAN rooms.
  • Room chat. MHFU has none, so while in a room press SELECT to type a message. Lines show top-left,
with notices when someone joins or leaves.
  • About pages ("Maintained by PateeerQ"), a new icon, and the app name Monster Hunter: Freedom Unite Recomp.
  • Android: landscape both ways, a scrollable menu, and Check for updates that installs the new APK.

You need your own copy of the game

No game files come with this release.

  1. The disc image: Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (Europe), ULES01213, as an .iso.
  2. Its decrypted EBOOT: in PPSSPP, Settings → Tools → Developer tools → Dump decrypted EBOOT.BIN on game boot,
then start the game once (ULES01213_EBOOT.BIN).
  3. The PSP's fonts: the .pgf files from PPSSPP's assets/flash0/font.

Windows: put the fonts in work\root\flash0\font, open mhfu_launcher.exe, choose the ISO and the EBOOT under
Advanced, then DEPART. If SmartScreen warns, choose More info → Run anyway.
Android: allow installing unknown apps, install the APK, put the ISO, the EBOOT and the fonts in one folder on
the phone; the app asks for that folder the first time ("Use this folder").

Playing together

  1. One player: Multiplayer → Create Server → Internet (a 4-digit passcode is optional).
  2. The others: Join Server → pick the room.
  3. Everyone goes online in the game as usual (the Gathering Hall), then takes a quest together.

Known: other hunters move in short bursts in the Gathering Hall (the game's own hall protocol); quests are smooth.
