Monster Hunter: Freedom Unite Recomp v0.2.2

A native port of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (PSP, EU ULES01213) for Windows and Android,
statically recompiled. No emulator. Maintained by PateeerQ.

The Android app offers this update by itself (drawer → Check for updates).

Android: your saves in a folder you can see

Like PPSSPP's memory stick folder: choose a folder (for example Documents/MHFU, "Use this folder") and your saves
are kept there as PSP/SAVEDATA/ULES01213/....

  • They survive Clear data and reinstalling. Choose the same folder again and they come back.
  • Copied there every few seconds while you play, and when you leave the app.
  • At every start the folder and the app are compared file by file; the newer save wins.
  • Nothing is ever deleted from the folder: a save the game removes stays there as a backup.
  • The app asks once at setup; the menu's Save folder shows or changes it any time.

Moving a save between PC and phone: copy the ULES01213 folder from the PC's work\root\ms\PSP\SAVEDATA\ into
<your save folder>/PSP/SAVEDATA/ on the phone (or the other way), then close the app fully and open it again.
Saves from PPSSPP or a real PSP do not work yet (the PSP encrypts them).

What you need

Your own copy of the game: no game files come with this release.

Android

  1. Install PPSSPP (Play Store).
  2. In PPSSPP: Settings → Tools → Developer tools → Dump decrypted EBOOT.BIN on game boot, then start
Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (Europe, ULES01213) once. The dump (about 1.8 MB) is in PSP/SYSTEM/DUMP.
  3. Put the .iso and that .bin in one folder, install this APK, and choose the folder when it asks
("Use this folder"). The PSP fonts are taken from PPSSPP by themselves.

Windows

  1. Dump the EBOOT the same way with PPSSPP for Windows (Documents\PPSSPP\PSP\SYSTEM\DUMP).
  2. Copy the .pgf fonts from PPSSPP's assets\flash0\font into work\root\flash0\font.
  3. Open mhfu_launcher.exe, choose the ISO and the EBOOT under Advanced, then DEPART.

Found a bug?

If the game closes because of an error, copy its crash log (Android: offered at the next start, or menu →
Copy crash log; Windows: launcher → Log → Copy crash report) and paste it into your report.
