Pip OS 0.9.4 beta
Private listening. Tap 🎧 in Pip Remote: the TV's sound plays in your phone's headphones and the TV's speakers go quiet. Nobody wakes up. It keeps going with the phone's screen off, and stops by itself when the headphones come out. Works with YouTube and most apps; Netflix keeps its sound on the TV.
Pip as your Home, on every TV. Pip asks once and sets itself as the Home screen. Where the TV keeps the Home button for itself (Google TV, Fire TV), a small helper catches it, so Google TV never flashes. Pip keeps it that way through updates and restarts. Switch back any time in Quick settings → Home button (press OK twice).
Watch your TV on the phone. Tap the eye in Pip Remote: the TV's picture, live, above the touch surface. Swipe on it to steer.
Send photos to the TV. Send → Send photos shows them full screen, as a slideshow.
New on the TV
- Kids mode: only the home row, locked with a PIN.
- Profiles: "Who's watching?", with up to four people, each with their own look and home row.
- Bedtime: at the hour you pick, the TV sleeps in 15 minutes.
- Motion → Drift: the landscape moves slowly, like Apple TV's.
- Pip on Ice: a little game in your apps.
- Pip slides onto the ice while the home starts.
- Notifications appear in Pip's hello.
- Music controls on the phone.
Pip Pro, one purchase of $4.99: all twelve landscapes and a new one every day, Spotlight and Mosaic, the serif font, frosted tiles, and private listening. Buying opens soon; looks you already chose stay yours.
Phone remote: pip-remote.apk. iPhone app: coming to the App Store.
Pip OS 0.9.3 beta
A much smaller TV app: 3.0 MB (was 15.2 MB). The landscapes now come from the website the first time you pick one, and the TV keeps them. Lake McDonald still ships inside the app, so Pip always has a picture, even offline. On Wi‑Fi, the other landscapes download quietly in the background, so browsing them in Make it yours is instant. The screen saver shows only the landscapes already on the TV.
Everything from 0.9.2 is included: the intro film, Now playing, Pip's hellos, a landscape every day, your devices on the home row, and the smooth scroll to all apps.
Install. On the TV, open Downloader, type piptv.github.io and press Install. If Pip is already installed, it offers the update by itself. Phone remote: pip-remote.apk (2.4 MB).
Pip OS 0.9.2 beta
The film. On first open, Pip now plays a 35-second film: wide on the TV, tall on the phone. It streams from the website, so it doesn't make the app bigger. Press OK on the TV or tap on the phone to skip it. Without internet, Pip's hello plays instead.
On the TV
- Now playing on the home screen.
- Pip says hello: a greeting, small tips, what's new, and a notice when there's no internet.
- A different landscape every day.
- Your devices on the home row. Named HDMI devices (PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, PC) get their own card and open their input in one press.
- One smooth scroll between home and all apps: no blank gap, and the clock stays.
- Quick settings in three columns, with menu sounds.
- Widgets are never empty.
- You can forget paired phones.
- A phone that leaves in the middle of a command no longer crashes Pip.
On the phone
- The remote app is now 2.4 MB (was 10.9 MB).
Install. On the TV, open Downloader, type piptv.github.io and press Install. If 0.9.1 is already installed, Pip offers the update by itself. Phone remote: pip-remote.apk.
Pip OS 0.9.1 beta
Pip OS 0.9.1 beta
- Meet Pip. A new mascot and icon. On first run Pip hops onto the snow and says hello, on the TV and in the phone app.
- Updates in the app. Pip now finds new versions itself: a blue dot on the Quick settings button and an Update tile on the TV, an update strip in the phone app. Android asks you to confirm every install.
- Phone remote. One screen like Apple's Remote, with shortcuts to the TV's Inputs, Quick settings and Make it yours, and Send to TV.
Install: on the TV open Downloader, type piptv.github.io, press Install Pip. Already on 0.9.0 (with updates)? Open Quick settings → Update.

piptv.github.io
or adb install pip-tv.apk. Full steps: https://piptv.github.io/os/#install
Known limits in this beta
- The phone remote controls other apps (Netflix, YouTube…) only after you turn on network debugging and allow Pip once on the TV.
- Google TV sends the Home button to its own launcher; Pip's optional accessibility helper brings you back.
- No iPhone app yet (the web remote works on iPhone).
