Klip 1.5.0

A much lighter idle, a history that stays fast with thousands of items, 60 fps recording and a set of small capture and clipboard tools.

Speed and size

  • The Win+V list no longer slows down with history size: it reads a short preview of each item, search runs off the ui thread, pinned items load apart from the recent ones and thumbnails decode in the background.
  • New default history size is 1,000 items (images capped at 200, media at 1 GB) for anyone who never changed it.
  • Nothing wakes up while idle, ocr loads only when used, and memory is handed back after heavy sessions.
  • Moved to .NET 10. The exe went from 233 MB to 170 MB and the installer from 62 MB to 51 MB.

Behaviour

  • Win+V always opens at the top with the newest item selected. An option remembers the scroll position instead.
  • Win+Shift+S always opens on rectangle with no delay. An option remembers the last tool instead.
  • Keys in the capture overlay: 1 rectangle, 2 window, 3 full screen, 4 freeform, R scrolling, T text, C color, G gif, V video.

New

  • Paste an image as a file: images from Klip, the browser or the Snipping Tool become a png when you paste into an Explorer folder or the desktop.
  • Win+V panel: number shortcuts, preview on Space, drag items out, context menu, collect mode, snippets, pause and skip-next-copy, open at the text caret, paste as plain text always, secrets that expire.
  • Capture: text mode (ocr to the clipboard), color picker, magnifier, pin to screen, repeat last region, optional hotkeys.
  • Recording: 60 fps, quality and output size, hardware encoder detection, hevc for very wide screens, and the recorder runs in its own process. New recording page in settings.
