Download Caffeinator.zip, unzip it, and move Caffeinator to Applications.

The app is ad-hoc signed, not notarized, so macOS blocks the first launch. Open it once, then go to System Settings › Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway. Or run:

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Caffeinator.app

macOS 14 or later, Apple silicon and Intel.

Free, no ads, no tracking. If it rescues a render, buy its developer a coffee.

New: a screensaver that keeps the Mac awake

Press ⌥⌘A and every display shows a live scene while the Mac stays up: the sky over you right now, every satellite in orbit, real gravitational-wave mergers, a ray-traced black hole, an electron going through two slits, and 22 more. Escape or ⌥⌘A ends it. Arrow keys change the scene, Space reads out what's on screen, and M turns on a soundscape made for each scene. Everything works with VoiceOver.

Settings › Screensaver can start it by itself after idle, shuffle scenes, or pick which ones play. The live scenes download public data straight from NASA, NOAA, USGS and others; the README lists every source and what's sent.
