Download Myna-0.6.0.dmg, drag Myna into Applications, and open it. On first launch it installs its on-device voice (about 1 GB). Apple Silicon, macOS 14 or later.

Already using Myna? It updates itself, voice included.

What's new in Myna 0.6

Myna has a window now

Open it from the popover's footer, or from Open Myna… under Options. It has
its own Dock icon while it's open.

  • Overview and History keep a record of everything Myna has read for you:
where it came from, which voice, and how much of it you actually heard. Click
any row in History to hear it again, or export it as JSON or CSV. It stays on
    your Mac.
  • Every setting lives here now, along with Report a Problem… and Send
    Feedback…
    under Account & Data.

Make audio, not just listen to it

  • Playground — type anything and hear it, tune the voice, and save the take.
  • Studio — turn articles, documents and books into audio files you keep.
  • API — use Myna's voice from your own scripts and tools on this Mac.

More voices, four engines

  • Choose between Kokoro, Soprano, Pocket TTS and Chatterbox Turbo in the
Engine pane. Each downloads only when you pick it, and all of them run on your
    Mac.
  • Kokoro now has 41 voices, and you can blend two or three of them into
your own. Pocket TTS and Chatterbox can copy a voice from a 5–30 second
    clip
. A library of over a hundred ready-made voices is a click away.
  • Pronunciation: teach Myna how to say the words it gets wrong. A starter
list of common ones is already in.

Reading

  • A read queue. Press the read shortcut while Myna is speaking and the new
text waits its turn instead of cutting in. The popover shows what's up next.
  • Transcript: follow along sentence by sentence, and click a sentence to
    jump to it.
  • Text cleanup: Myna no longer reads out asterisks, # headings, table
pipes, whole URLs, code blocks or citation marks. Turn it on or off for
Claude Code replies, articles and selections separately.
  • Services: select text in any app, right-click, then Services ▸ Read
    with Myna
    or Summarize with Myna.
  • Summaries use Apple Intelligence's on-device model, in the style you
choose. Needs macOS 26 with Apple Intelligence turned on.

Claude Code, hands-free

Myna says out loud when Claude Code needs you. Finished replies are read
automatically only when you've stepped away, so they don't talk over you while
you're at the keyboard.

Updates

  • The popover is reorganised around what you use most.
  • Updating Myna now also brings its voice service and engine up to date,
    Homebrew installs included.
