blockterm 0.1.1

Choose a tag to compare

@PydevAzmi PydevAzmi released this 26 Oct 22:14
npm i -g blockterm
# Linux: npm i -g --allow-scripts=node-pty blockterm

New

  • Readable Arabic. Letters join and right-to-left runs read in the right order, in shell output, the agent transcript, the agent input and the approval card. Copying returns normal Arabic text.
  • rtl setting (auto / on / off). auto turns it on in hosts that don't do bidi themselves, such as Windows Terminal; blockterm doctor shows which.

Fixes

  • Windows: the approval card names your shell instead of the TERM value.
  • Windows: VS Code, WezTerm and Alacritty are recognised before the console fallback.

New runtime dependency: bidi-js 1.1.0.

blockterm 0.1.0

First release. An open-source terminal that wraps your real shell with command blocks and an AI agent that types only what you approve.

npm i -g blockterm
# Linux: npm i -g --allow-scripts=node-pty blockterm   (needs python3, make, g++)

Requires Node 24 or newer. Then run blockterm setup.

What's in it

  • Your real shell (ssh, vim, anything) on Windows, macOS and Linux.
  • Command blocks in bash, zsh, PowerShell 7 and Windows PowerShell 5.1: command, exit status, duration, output.
  • Block selection with ctrl+↑/ctrl+↓: copy command (c), copy output (o), rerun (r), explain error (e).
  • ctrl+k agent line (Anthropic, OpenAI or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, including Ollama and LM Studio); every keystroke needs your approval, Enter approves.
  • # suggestions at an empty prompt.
  • Drag to select and copy in the shell or agent pane; prompt editing and history; /clear or ctrl+l.
  • F1 key help; blockterm setup, blockterm doctor, blockterm update.

Known issues

  • On Windows the approval card can show the TERM name instead of the shell. Fixed on main; ships in 0.1.1.
  • WSL bash runs without blocks; PowerShell 7 blocks are not on macOS yet.
