Linux64 Win64
CoinBrowser 0.0.9 for Windows and Linux, 64-bit
All four exchanges supply prices now. Picking anything but Binance or
KuCoin used to say "No exchange source yet".
- Gate.io - one request, 2008 USDT pairs with turnover.
- Kraken - two requests. Its ticker is keyed by Kraken's own pair
codes, so the pair list is fetched first to learn which code is which
coin. Kraken reports neither a 24h change nor a turnover, so both are
worked out: the change from today's opening price, the turnover as the
24h volume weighted average times the 24h volume. 45 USDT pairs - Kraken
trades mostly against USD and EUR.
Kraken also calls bitcoin XBT and dogecoin XDG. Everyone else, CoinGecko
included, says BTC and DOGE, so those two are mapped - otherwise the
largest coins on the list would carry no market cap and no rank.
Checked against the live endpoints: Binance 84350.4, Gate.io 84352.6,
Kraken 84348.4 for BTC, agreeing to within 0.00%.
FTX and Bittrex are gone. FTX collapsed in November 2022 and Bittrex
wound down after it; neither can be traded on and both were still being
offered. The exchange list in Settings had also drifted from the one in
the main window - it was missing Gate.io entirely. Both now show the same
four, and every one has a price source behind it.
Everything in 0.0.8 as well: dates in the local convention with the year,
the Table dropdown reading as dates and listing newest first, empty tables
marked, and a rewritten README.
Windows is CoinBrowser-win64-v0.0.9.zip - unzip anywhere and run
coinbrowser.exe. Everything it needs is in the folder: no Qt install, no
API key, no runtime to fetch.
Linux is CoinBrowser-linux64-v0.0.9.tar.gz. It uses the Qt 6 already
on the system - sudo dnf install qt6-qtbase qt6-qtbase-gui on Fedora.
The README in the archive lists the Debian and Ubuntu packages, and the
SQLite driver to watch for. Built and tested on Fedora.
Pairs are still read from raw_.txt.
Linux64 Win64
Superseded by v0.0.9.
Gate.io and Kraken have price sources there; FTX and Bittrex, both
defunct, are removed.
CoinBrowser 0.0.8 for Windows and Linux, 64-bit
Everything in 0.0.7, plus five fixes found while using it.
The Table dropdown reads as dates, newest first. It listed raw table
names - USDT_18-10_10-18, which is stake, day, month, hour, minute - oldest
at the top, and the oldest was the one selected on startup. So every
comparison column was measured against the oldest snapshot still listed
rather than the previous one. It now shows "18/10/2026 10:18", newest
first, and selects the newest.
Dates follow the machine's own convention and carry the year. The
status line wrote "18 Oct 09:51" in English order with no year, so a
comparison against a table from last October looked like one from this
morning. Now 10/18/2026 9:51 AM in the United States, 18/10/2026 09:51 in
Europe, 2026/10/18 in Japan.
New tables carry their year in the name, so nothing has to guess it.
Older tables are still guessed - this year, or last year if that would put
them in the future - which is right for anything under a year old.
Empty tables are marked. A table created by a run that then wrote
nothing shows as "(empty)" instead of an unexplained name.
The status line says what it compared against, with the table's own
row count: "compared against 433 coins from 18.10.2026 09:51".
Also: the README is rewritten with current screenshots, and documents what
Rank above 1000 means, why 1h, 7d and market cap read 0 for those coins,
and how to build on each platform.
Windows is CoinBrowser-win64-v0.0.8.zip - unzip anywhere and run
coinbrowser.exe. Everything it needs is in the folder: no Qt install, no
API key, no runtime to fetch.
Linux is CoinBrowser-linux64-v0.0.8.tar.gz.
Superseded by v0.0.8.
The Table dropdown listed raw names oldest-first and compared against
the oldest snapshot; dates carried no year. Fixed there.
CoinBrowser 0.0.7 for Windows 64-bit
Everything in 0.0.6, plus the fixes found while testing it. If you took
0.0.6, take this instead.
The table now matches its own header. Nothing ever sorted it: the
constructor sorts once, and filling the model afterwards does not re-sort,
so the rows stayed in the order the exchange sent them - volume, highest
first - while the header kept showing the Rank arrow. The arrow is now
true, and a column you click stays sorted when the data refreshes. The
default order is Rank ascending.
Prices keep their digits in any stake coin. They were written to three
decimals, which is fine for BTC at 82191.6 and useless for anything priced
in BTC: XRP at 0.0000158 showed as 0.000. Prices now keep about five
significant figures at any scale. The column header also follows the stake
coin - it said "Price USDT" over prices quoted in BTC, because changing
the stake updated the window title and nothing else.
DB rank move was 0 on every row. The "-" written for a coin with no
earlier row went through toInt() and became 0, hiding the real moves with
it.
Auto upd. now starts the timer. Ticking it saved the setting and did
nothing until the program was restarted, because the only line that
started the timer was in the constructor.
The pair cap is gone. Updates stopped after 500 coins, so 203 of
Binance's 703 USDT pairs were never written and could never be compared
against on the next run. A timed update was worse still - it wrote only as
many coins as the display range, 200 by default, which no setting
suggested. Tables now take every coin the exchange lists.
The status line says what it compared against, for example
"compared against USDT_4-10_15-46 (500 coins), written 18 Oct 15:46",
instead of "Database is from 0/0, time 0:00" - which was the last coin's
leftovers rather than the table's date.
Unzip anywhere and run coinbrowser.exe. Everything it needs is in the
folder - no Qt install, no API key, no runtime to fetch. Pairs are still
read from raw_.txt.
Linux 64-bit is CoinBrowser-linux64-v0.0.7.tar.gz. Unlike the Windows
zip it does not carry Qt with it, so it uses the Qt 6 already installed on
the system - sudo dnf install qt6-qtbase qt6-qtbase-gui on Fedora. The
README in the archive lists the Debian and Ubuntu packages, and the SQLite
driver to watch for. Built and tested on Fedora.
Win64
Superseded by v0.0.7.
Testing this build turned up sorting, price formatting and auto-update
problems that are fixed there. Use 0.0.7.
CoinBrowser 0.0.6 for Windows 64-bit
The data comes from the exchange now. CoinMarketCap and its API key are
gone: Binance or KuCoin supply prices, volumes and the 24h change in one
request with no key, and CoinGecko supplies market cap, rank and the 1h
and 7d changes. Nothing needs signing up for, and the prices are the ones
that exchange would actually fill at.
Starting up and updating are no longer slow. The update ran one
database transaction and one query per coin, five thousand of each. It now
runs one transaction and one query in total. Measured on 5000 rows: the
inserts went from 13.6 seconds to 0.02, and the lookups from 2.0 seconds
to 0.04. Startup runs the same code, so it gained the same.
Also fixed:
- The comparison columns were computed against an empty table on any run
that built one, so "DB +/- %" was a division by zero. - "DB rank move" showed minus each coin's own rank on a new table.
- The Coins Id from-to boxes had nothing connected to them and did not
reload the table. - Get price in the simulator always returned 0, because the folder it
writes to was never created. - The simulator starts with a coin list and a 1000 stake instead of two
empty fields. - The donate addresses are current, and the copy button now copies the
same ones the dialog shows. - The status line says which table the comparison is against and how many
coins it held.
Unzip anywhere and run coinbrowser.exe. Everything it needs is in the
folder - no Qt install, no runtime to fetch. Pairs are still read from
raw_.txt as before.
