ROCm CLI v0.2.1 (2026-10-29)
A patch release on top of v0.2.0, made of fixes backported from main and documentation brought in line with this release.
- Fixes for data loss and unsafe actions:
rocm uninstallthrough a symlinked folder;- ComfyUI reinstalls, which deleted user files;
rocm fix fix-6-path, which could wipe the Windows userPATH;- stopping a managed server, which could signal an unrelated process that reused its PID;
rocm updateoffering a downgrade.
- ROCm 10.0 installs again: torchaudio is now pinned to the build for the requested ROCm version.
- Lemonade on Windows can now fall back to its default backend when the ROCm-matched download is unavailable.
- Documentation: the docs site gains the WSL2 guide and the uninstall and verify guidance, written against what v0.2.1 does.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed:
rocm uninstallemptying the folder a symlinked config, data or cache root points to, instead of removing the link (#562) - Fixed:
rocm comfyui install --reinstalldeleting the user's models, workflows, outputs and custom nodes. It now replaces only ComfyUI's own code, and refuses while ComfyUI is running (#546) - Fixed:
rocm fix fix-6-pathwiping the Windows userPATHwhen reading it failed, and advertising asetxcommand that truncatesPATH(#691, #710) - Fixed:
rocmdstopping a managed server by recorded PID without checking that the PID still belonged to the server, so a recycled PID could get an unrelated process, and its children, terminated. Stops are now verified against each process's recorded identity, and a stop that cannot confirm the server is gone says so (stop_unconfirmed) instead of claiming success (#499) - Fixed:
rocm updateordering runtime versions as text, which could offer a downgrade as an update. Versions are now compared by PEP 440 (#566) - Fixed:
rocm install sdk --version 10.0.0failing because torchaudio was left unpinned and resolved to a build for another ROCm version (#630) - Fixed: Lemonade on Windows never aligning its
llamacpp:rocmbackend to the ROCm that rocm-cli already manages. It now aligns and verifies it, and falls back to the default pinned backend when the matching one cannot be downloaded (#576) - Fixed: Lemonade on Windows reporting a downloaded model as missing, because it looked for the Hugging Face cache under
HOME, which Windows doesn't set (#681) - Fixed: a local chat stream cut off before its final chunk spinning one CPU core at 100% forever, instead of ending (#527)
- Fixed: two
rocmprocesses bootstrappinguvat the same time deleting each other's install (#609) - Fixed:
rocm comfyui statusandrocm comfyui installdisagreeing about which folderfolder:names (#600) - Fixed: Lemonade log tails dropping the first complete line when the read started exactly on a line boundary (#634)
- Fixed: printed
rocm services stop <id>hints that failed when copied, because they lacked--yes(#604) - Fixed: the automations proposal line labelling binary sizes
KB/MB/GBinstead ofKiB/MiB/GiB(#671) - Fixed: the dashboard's ROCm tab listing commands that don't exist (
rocm doctor,rocm update --check,rocm install --channel …). It now names the command each screen runs (#535) - Fixed:
scripts/release_readiness.py --require-signaturesaccepting any.sigfile. It now verifies the signature against the pinned key (#550)
Documentation
- The docs site now includes the WSL2 guide (#627)
- README, CONTRIBUTING and the vLLM guide are copyedited, and gain guidance for uninstalling and for verifying an install. ROCm 7.14, 10.0 and 10.1 are documented as installable (#616)
Changes in Behaviour
rocm comfyui install --reinstallrefuses while ComfyUI is running, and lists what it kept, replaced and set aside (#546)- The daemon's
stop_servertool reportsstop_unconfirmedand keeps the server's record when it cannot confirm the server stopped (#499) - With the newest ROCm 10.1, the vLLM stack installs torchaudio
2.11.0.2, the build verified for that line, rather than2.11.0.3(#630) - On Windows, installing the Lemonade engine can now align its backend to the managed ROCm, replacing that backend's version entry (#576)
Known Issues
- The host serving TheRock's Windows tarballs currently refuses
therock-dist-windows-gfx1151-7.14.x(HTTP 403). On Windows, Lemonade therefore can't install the ROCm 7.14llamacpp:rocmbackend; with #576 it falls back to the default pinned 7.13 backend. rocm fix fix-6-pathon Windows writes the userPATHback asREG_SZ, so%VAR%entries in aREG_EXPAND_SZuserPATHare stored expanded.rocm services stopprints "Local server stopped" and exits 0 even when it could not confirm that the server's processes exited. In that case the service record and endpoint key are kept, and the record's status shows the real state.- Instinct serving on RHEL 9.6 can still need manual vLLM, OpenMPI and amdsmi workarounds (#254).
- Lemonade's
llamacpp:rocmbackend can't align to ROCm 10.1 yet, because upstream hasn't published a matching build. rocm-cli reverts to the last-known-good pin, which still works (#553).
