App Center 1.0.10
The Manage page now tells apart the updates winget is sure of from the ones it cannot read or will not apply, and offers a way through each of them.
- Three kinds of update. Updates available holds what winget is sure of; that is what the sidebar counts and what Update all takes. Version unknown holds packages whose installed version winget cannot read — winget offers those on every visit whether or not anything is newer, so they sit apart, out of the badge, with an "Update all of these" of their own. Skipped updates holds packages held by a winget pin.
- Skip and Resume. Every update row has Skip, which asks winget to leave the package alone. It is a winget pin, so
winget upgrade --allrespects it too, and pins made in a terminal show up in the same list. A skipped row has Resume updates. - Reinstall to update. When winget refuses an update because the new version is a different kind of installer from the one on the machine, the row says so in plain words and offers to uninstall and then install the new version, which is what winget itself asks for. On winget 1.28.190 and newer, App Center looks ahead after the list has landed and marks such rows before anything is pressed.
- Remembered installs. Once App Center has installed the version on offer over a package whose version winget cannot read, the row says so and when, instead of offering the same update again.
- Better reasons. The closing line of Update all groups what it could not do by the remedy: what needs a reinstall, what needs administrator rights, what a pin held back. Packages whose publishers ask winget to update them only when named are listed with the rest instead of being dropped.
- Fixed: updating a single package whose version winget cannot read failed with 0x8A15002B, while Update all handled it.
