PiNT Terminal 0.2.0
PiNT Terminal 0.2.0 introduces a vault organised as groups containing devices, with shared group credentials and optional custom credentials per device.
- Create and rename groups, add or move devices, and search groups, names, addresses and tags.
- Set a standard username, password and SSH key path for a group. New devices inherit that complete set; custom credentials replace it completely, including deliberately blank fields.
- See whether a device uses group defaults or custom credentials without exposing its password in the details panel.
- Existing terminal tabs retain their connection details through reconnects. Open a new tab to use changed group defaults.
Download PiNT-Terminal-0.2.0-Windows-x64.exe and run it directly on Windows. It contains its runtime and does not require Python or a separate folder of libraries. On Apple Silicon Macs, open PiNT-Terminal-0.2.0-macOS-arm64.dmg and drag PiNT Terminal to Applications. SHA256SUMS.txt contains the hashes for both downloads.
Older workspaces retain their existing per-device credentials as custom credentials. Before the first format upgrade, PiNT saves the original encrypted vault beside the workspace as name.v1-backup.pint, using a numbered suffix if needed. Upgraded vaults and exports require 0.2.0 or later and cannot be opened by 0.1.1. Recordings keep their existing format. To return to an older app, close PiNT, preserve the upgraded files separately, then restore the backup under the original workspace filename beside its recordings database.
Verification includes 133 tests and 7 subtests on each of macOS Apple Silicon and Windows 11 ARM64 using x64 Python under emulation. Native group/device forms and scaled layouts were checked, and the macOS → Windows → macOS round trip preserved group defaults, custom blank credentials, Unicode settings, recordings and a migrated legacy vault.
The Windows EXE passed Vault and Recordings launches from a folder containing only that EXE. The Mac DMG passed verification, read-only mounting and native launch of an app copied out of the image.
This release is marked stable. Windows is unsigned; the Mac app uses an ad hoc signature and is not notarised. Conventional x64 hardware, Intel macOS, native Windows ARM64 and further real-device acceptance remain unverified. Planned features and current terminal, transfer and security limitations are documented in the README. Close an older app before opening the same workspace in this release.
GitHub verification passed on macOS and Windows with Python 3.12 for release commit 68013d77e2dbee4a5862a3302311d3005579c83b.
PiNT Terminal 0.1.1 - Early Access Beta
PiNT Terminal 0.1.1 is available as an Early Access Beta for macOS and Windows.
Included: saved SSH/Telnet connections, FTP/SFTP file transfers, an encrypted local vault, persistent recordings, disk-backed scrollback, reconnect controls, portable workspace bundles and a read-only TFTP host.
This release fixes control characters appearing as boxes in saved recordings and hostname failures during SSH/SFTP host-key approval. Existing recordings benefit from the display fix; raw stored output is preserved.
Downloads
- macOS Apple Silicon: extract the macOS arm64 ZIP and open
PiNT Terminal.app. - Windows x64: extract the complete Windows ZIP and run
PiNT Terminal.exeinside its folder. This build was tested using x64 emulation in a Windows 11 ARM64 VM.
Close an earlier app version after finishing its active sessions, then open your existing workspace in this build. Keep an exported workspace backup. There is no passphrase recovery.
Beta status and verification
This is a GitHub pre-release, with planned features still in development and ongoing real-device acceptance. Windows is unsigned; macOS has a local development signature and is not notarised. Intel macOS and native Windows ARM64 builds are not included.
The functional source passed 94 macOS tests and 93 Windows tests, with one Windows symlink-permission skip and seven subtests on each platform. Two relevant GUI checks passed after the beta label change. GitHub CI passed on macOS and Windows with Python 3.12. Release packages are checked for native launch and archive integrity. Tests use synthetic data and loopback servers; no production devices were contacted.
See the README and platform acceptance notes for current limitations. Third-party runtime licence notices are included in both packages. SHA256SUMS.txt contains the download checksums.
