VulkanFixes 1.2.0
VulkanFixes 1.2.0 adds an experimental motion blur that works under VulkanMod (Minecraft 1.21.11 only). Download the jar for your version:
| Minecraft | Jar |
|---|---|
| 1.21, 1.21.1 | vulkanfixes-1.2.0+mc1.21-1.21.1.jar |
| 1.21.2 – 1.21.4 | vulkanfixes-1.2.0+mc1.21.2-1.21.4.jar |
| 1.21.5 | vulkanfixes-1.2.0+mc1.21.5.jar |
| 1.21.9, 1.21.10 | vulkanfixes-1.2.0+mc1.21.9-1.21.10.jar |
| 1.21.11 | vulkanfixes-1.2.0+mc1.21.11.jar |
Requires Fabric Loader 0.15.11+ and Java 21. Fabric API is not needed.
Motion blur (1.21.11)
- Off by default. Turn it on in Mod Menu → VulkanFixes → Motion Blur (Experimental), with a Blur Strength slider (0.1–2). Without Mod Menu, edit
config/vulkanfixes.json. - Only turning the camera blurs; walking doesn't. The hand, held item and HUD always stay sharp.
- No frames are held back, so it adds no input latency. The streak length doesn't depend on your fps.
- Free while the camera is still or turning slowly. While turning, on Iris Xe at 1080p fullscreen it costs about 0.6–0.85 ms a frame (e.g. a fast 270°/s spin: 406 → ~315 FPS).
Other versions
The 1.21–1.21.10 jars are unchanged apart from the version number: they still carry only the sunset frame-drop fix.
Testing
Motion blur was tested in-game on 1.21.11 with VulkanMod 0.6.8. It's experimental, so if it looks wrong or fails, it turns itself off for the session and logs an error. Please open an issue with your log.
VulkanFixes 1.1.0
VulkanFixes now supports every Minecraft 1.21.x version that VulkanMod supports. Download the jar for your version:
| Minecraft | Jar |
|---|---|
| 1.21, 1.21.1 | vulkanfixes-1.1.0+mc1.21-1.21.1.jar |
| 1.21.2 – 1.21.4 | vulkanfixes-1.1.0+mc1.21.2-1.21.4.jar |
| 1.21.5 | vulkanfixes-1.1.0+mc1.21.5.jar |
| 1.21.9, 1.21.10 | vulkanfixes-1.1.0+mc1.21.9-1.21.10.jar |
| 1.21.11 | vulkanfixes-1.1.0+mc1.21.11.jar |
There's no jar for 1.21.6–1.21.8 because VulkanMod has no release for them. Requires Fabric Loader 0.15.11+ and Java 21. Fabric API is not needed.
Changes
- Each version uses its own Minecraft rendering API but applies the same fix: keep the frame's clear color steady, and paint the exact fog color over it while you turn toward a sunrise or sunset. Frames stay pixel-identical to vanilla.
- If the fix ever fails at runtime, it logs one error and falls back to vanilla behavior instead of crashing.
- 1.21.11 works the same as in 1.0.0.
Testing
Only 1.21.11 was tested in-game. Turning across the sunset in fullscreen went from 68 to about 400 FPS. Every other jar was checked against each Minecraft version in its range with tools/CompatCheck.java, which confirms all the code, mixin targets and access-widener entries the mod relies on exist. If something looks off on your version, please open an issue.
VulkanFixes 1.0.0
First release, for Minecraft 1.21.11 with VulkanMod 0.6.8 (Fabric Loader 0.19.3+, Java 21). Fabric API is not needed.
Fixed
- Large frame drops when turning the camera toward a sunrise or sunset in exclusive fullscreen (seen on Intel Iris Xe). Vanilla clears each frame to a fog color that changes while you turn toward the sun, and under VulkanMod that stalls the GPU for 10 ms or more every frame. VulkanFixes keeps the clear color steady and paints the exact fog color with a full-screen draw instead, so frames stay pixel-identical to vanilla.
| Turning across the sunset, 1080p fullscreen | FPS | Frames over 10 ms |
|---|---|---|
| VulkanMod 0.6.8 | 68 | 459 of 546 |
| + VulkanFixes 1.0.0 | 408 | 0 |
