Improvements
- The iPhone 18 Pro now warns when a reading may be half. On an iPhone 18 Pro model charging by cable on a profile above 30 W, the dial shows "may read half", and the Power and Adapter pages explain why: in that mode both the input and the cell sensors can see only half the power. The numbers themselves are not corrected.
- New battery level check. While charging, the app turns the battery level's rise into watts and compares it with what the cell sensors measured over the same stretch. If the level rises much faster (1.6× or more), the dial shows "reading low" with both figures; if they agree, the check says so and the "may read half" warning is hidden. It needs at least a 3% rise, usually a few minutes.
- Sensors are identified by SMC key, and duplicate copies are merged. iOS 27 publishes every sensor twice. The app used to take the first copy; it now averages the two, and each sensor appears once on the Thermal page. The Thermal page and Raw data show the key beside the name (the battery sensor that runs hot is
TG0B). - Battery energy defaults by model. 21.75 Wh for the iPhone 18 Pro Max, 19.7 Wh for the iPhone 17 Pro Max, 15 Wh otherwise. Settings → Battery energy shows your model's rating with a "Use" button. A value you set yourself is kept.
- Raw data gains a "Derived power checks" section, recording whether the half-reading warning applies and the battery level check's result.
Fixes
- Adapter: on an iPhone 18 Pro at high power, a low reading is no longer blamed on the cable or plugs; path resistance and current utilisation are not worked out while the reading may be incomplete.
Notes
- On an iPhone 18 Pro at high power the full input still cannot be read: the second charging path has no readable sensor. This version can warn and cross-check, not fill in the missing power, and energy totals recorded during that time are still low.
- The battery level check has not been verified on an iPhone 18 Pro. If you have one, charge at 45 W, let the level rise a few percent, then copy the dump from Settings → Raw data and report it.
- If your model is not in the list above, set Settings → Battery energy to its rating, or the level check may never reach a verdict.
- Some of these findings come from measurements by ChargeSpeed's author on an iPhone 18 Pro Max.
