v1.2 — Sprendžiate jūs
What's new in v1.2 — a fourth colour, and two things that were quietly broken
The program now finds folders it refuses to suggest touching.
A measurement on a real machine showed this cleaner was about to offer three
locations it must not: a Synology sync folder holding 1,018,504 files, Autodesk
Inventor logs, and a cache being written to at that very moment. Deleting those
would not just free space — it could break a running sync or a paid tool
someone works in.
The traffic light keeps three colours, because they say what the program
suggests. The fourth one, BLUE, says the opposite: found it, suggesting
nothing, you decide. Blue folders never enter "Clean all". You can still
clean one on its own, behind its own warning.
A folder turns blue for one of three reasons:
- it is a sync folder (Synology, OneDrive, Dropbox…),
- it belongs to paid software (Autodesk, Adobe, JetBrains…),
- it is being written to right now.
The first two come from name lists that are deliberately incomplete — no list
knows every program in the world, and we say so instead of pretending
otherwise. The third needs no list, and it is the one that caught all three
cases above.
The threshold was measured, not chosen. Across 474 locations on a real
machine, "at least one file younger than a day" marked 22 folders — including a
browser cache holding six fresh files that is perfectly safe to clean. At
twenty files it marks six, and they are the right six. A percentage rule was
dropped: the sync folder's fresh files are 8 % of a million, so any percentage
would have missed the main target. The 11.6 GB package cache that no built-in
tool sees stays yellow, exactly as before.
Two repairs:
- The "?" button now opens the instructions in the published build. Both
README files were missing from the packaged executable, so the help was
silent in both languages. Thirty-one automated checks never caught it,
because they run from source, where those files sit right there. - Table rows are readable in a dark system theme. A cell that sets only its
background inherits white text from the theme and vanishes on our light row
colours. Every cell now sets both colours.
Scanning, preview, cleaning and all safety guards (AGE / LOCKED / JUNCTION) are
unchanged. The test suite gained two checks: every table cell must carry both
colours, and blue must never reach "Clean all".
A note on the first version of that colour check: it stayed green even with
the fix reverted, because a Qt cell with no colour set returns a default brush
rather than nothing. It now asks the item data directly, and both new checks
were verified by reverting the fix and watching them fail.

Windows SmartScreen will greet an unsigned program with a blue window — click
"More info" → "Run anyway". The README explains how to verify the download
yourself before you do.
Idea credit: Robertas — the blue colour was born from his own machine, where
the three dangerous suggestions showed up. Built, measured and documented by
Claude.
