How addons work

Extra Options now has a built-in general purpose mod loader. Edits made to the game's database, invidivual carbins and localized string tables can be exported into a custom JSON format, and those changes will be applied to the game's data at runtime without modifying the original assets. DLLs can also be loaded in-case a mod requires custom scripting.

Installing addons

For users, installing a mod is as simple as drag and dropping the folder for a mod inside the mods folder.

The mods folder will be in different locations depending on the translation layer you use.

Azimuth

The mods folder for Azimuth will be located in Azimuth's main folder, where its main executable (Azimuth.exe) is located.

Mezcal

The mods folder for Mezcal will be located where the dumped files for Forza Horizon 2 were extracted, inside the Mount folder.

If you don't have a mods folder in these locations, please create it.

Load order

The loadorder.txt file inside the mods folder dictates the load priority of each mod. Mods at the bottom of the list get more priority.

This will be important when ID conflicts happen.

Missing mods

Be careful when uninstalling mods. If you quit the game while in a car that was an addon, or had addon parts, uninstall the related mods, then boot the game again, you'll get soft-locked in an infinite loading screen.
