Information about how certain files work.

String Hashes

When looking at the game's database, you may have noticed entries that look like this: _&1568980374

These entries hold information about what localized string the entry is referring to and which table it comes from. More precisely two 4-byte big-endian integers

Converting the decimal value from the entry to big endian hexadecimal will net you this: 5D 84 BD 96

5D 84 refers to the ID of the string table the string belongs, and BD 96 is the ID of the string itself.

Converting those back to integers will give us 23940 and 48534 respectively. 23940 refers to List_PartManufacturer.str and 48534 refers to the string used by the Vortech brand.
