v1.01
How to play
- Launch Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 from Steam once, then close it. It will likely ask you to install
Direct Play, which you want to do. - Download the zip below and unzip it anywhere you like. Your Downloads folder is fine.
- Start your screen reader.
- Run openrct2.exe from the folder you unzipped.
That is the whole procedure. You do not need to install OpenRCT2 first - this download is a
complete copy of the game with the mod built into it - and the steps are the same whether or not you
already have it.
If you want it somewhere easier to reach, right-click openrct2.exe and choose
Send to > Desktop (create shortcut), or pin it to your Start Menu. Your choice, not a required
step.
To remove it, delete the folder.
Changes in 1.01
- There is no installer any more. Unzip the download anywhere, start your screen reader, and run
openrct2.exe. Previously you ran a batch file that copied files into a folder you had already
unzipped, which earned nothing. - Nothing is written outside the folder you unzipped, so an OpenRCT2 you already have is left
completely alone. Your saved parks and settings stay inDocuments\OpenRCT2and are shared
between the two. - Automatic updates now replace the folder they are running from, so an update can never leave the
program file and the game files it needs out of step with each other.
Everything in 1.0 below is included.
From 1.0
- Updated the mod to work with the latest version of ORCT (5.5).
- All file dialogues are now accessible.
- The mod now says which version it is when the game starts.
- The Delete key now removes one thing at the cursor: a path, a bin or bench, scenery, a fence, a
sign, a ride entrance or exit, or a piece of track. When several things share the tile it reads
them out and lets you pick with the arrow keys. - Streamlined deleting, placing, and interacting with objects. Delete was explained above. Space is
now used to place any object: paths, scenery, rides, etc. Enter now interacts: rides, park
entrances, etc. - Control + shift + up or down arrows now filters between type of objects to jump to: rides and
stalls, hazards, scenery, or footpath objects. Control + arrows will then jump to whatever is
selected. - The multiplayer chat key has moved from C to the slash key. C is the coordinate read-out, so on a
server every position check was opening the chat box instead. You can change it back in Options if
you prefer.
Requirements
- Windows.
- A screen reader. The mod speaks through Prism, which hands its speech to whichever reader you
already run, so NVDA, JAWS, Narrator, System Access, ZDSR and others all work. NVDA is free and is
the one the mod is developed and tested against. - Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 from Steam.
Nothing else. OpenRCT2 itself is included.
