v0.94.1

@RossMinor RossMinor released this 10 Jul 00:10
  • Made the auto-updater easier to use.

v0.94

Choose a tag to compare

@RossMinor RossMinor released this 09 Jul 21:45
  • Control + - or = speed up and slow down time, respectively.
  • There are now options to slow down time to 0.5x and 0.25x. Thank you to several people who suggested slowing the game down.
  • Outside of build mode, the user can now press control and arrow in a direction to jump to the nearest ride or stall in that direction. Thank you to Chaosbringer for the suggestion.
  • Changing the brush size will now read all the tiles in that area. This will make it easier to clear areas, instead of navigating tile by tile. Thanks again to Chaosbringer for the suggestion.

v0.93

Choose a tag to compare

@RossMinor RossMinor released this 09 Jul 05:59
  • Menu music is now half as loud when launching the game. It can also be adjusted further in the mod settings.
  • Control + P now tells you if the path you are currently on connects to the entrance of the park, no matter where you are on the map. This will help determine if paths are connecting to rides and if guests are able to get certain areas.
  • Pressing p now pauses and unpauses the game.
  • When building pre-built rides, players can place the ride and then arrow around to make sure it's where they want it before they confirm the construction.
  • The auto-updater now asks the user if they would like to open the latest changelog.

v0.92

@RossMinor RossMinor released this 08 Jul 18:12

Rewrote the underlying windows navigation structure, which was causing issues for some people. This should have fixed a lot of weird and inconsistent bugs.

v0.91.1 - update nag fix (patch)

Choose a tag to compare

@RossMinor RossMinor released this 06 Jul 00:29

Windows portable build (x64) of OpenRCT2-Access.

How to use: unzip anywhere and run openrct2.exe. You still need your original RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 game files. nvdaControllerClient64.dll is bundled so NVDA speaks out of the box.

Patch over v0.91. Same features as v0.91 — this only fixes the accessibility updater, which had a hardcoded version that never matched the release, so it falsely announced an update on every launch. The version now comes from a single source that moves with each release, so v0.91.1 stays quiet when you're up to date.

If you're on an earlier build you'll still hear the false prompt until you install this one.

v0.91

@RossMinor RossMinor released this 03 Jul 19:56

OpenRCT2-Access v0.91

Sounds

  • New footstep cues distinguish dirt paths, hard paths (tarmac/stone/etc.), queues, and water tiles.
  • Each footstep category now plays one of up to three random variations so repeated steps vary.
  • All cues respect the Step Sounds mode (every step / on transition / off) and the Accessibility Sounds Volume (Ctrl+F1).

Ride window accessibility

  • Colour pickers and combo boxes now behave like sliders: Left/Right cycle the value in place, no opening a grid.
  • They report their current value on focus (colours are read by name) and announce only the new value when changed.
  • The Station entrance style control now reports its current style name.

Multiplayer & stability

  • The lost-guest rescue tool (Ctrl+H) is now multiplayer-safe.
  • Sound and drowning selection use a non-deterministic local RNG so they never affect a networked simulation.

Install

Windows portable build. Extract the zip over your existing install, or let the in-game updater (F5) apply it.

v0.9

Choose a tag to compare

@RossMinor RossMinor released this 02 Jul 22:37

Accessibility-focused release for blind players (NVDA + keyboard).

  • Accessibility Sounds Volume window (Ctrl+F1): a screen-reader-navigable, native settings window with a cue-volume slider (5% steps, saved to config) and a Support Ross link.
  • Lost-guest rescue (Ctrl+H): finds guests with lost / can't-find / want-to-go-home thoughts that have no walking route to a park exit and teleports them to the nearest entrance.
  • Context-sensitive help on F1 (the land tool moved to Shift+F1).
  • Elevated / bridge footpath construction at an adjustable build height; the bare P and Q map keys are unbound now that the footpath window drives path/queue selection.
  • Checkbox and slider announcements are now consistent across all settings windows.
  • Fixed the painfully loud sound when bulk-removing paths in a marked area.

OpenRCT2-Access v0.82

Choose a tag to compare

@RossMinor RossMinor released this 27 Jun 03:51

Bug fix release.

  • Fixed the accessible map cursor moving the wrong way when the camera is rotated. After rotating the view (Shift+Left / Shift+Right), the arrow keys now rotate together with the camera, so the spoken X/Y coordinates stay consistent at all four rotations (e.g. after rotating East, Up raises X instead of feeling like it goes west).

Requirements: Windows with NVDA running, and your own copy of RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 (Steam or GOG).

OpenRCT2-Access v0.81

@RossMinor RossMinor released this 27 Jun 03:09

OpenRCT2-Access v0.81

Accessibility improvements for blind players (NVDA + keyboard).

New in this release

  • Build sloped paths (ramps). Press L to cycle the path build mode between Flat, Up, and Down (announced each time). In Up or Down, pressing the build-path key lays a ramp that rises or falls toward the direction you last moved, connecting to the path behind the cursor. This lets you build a staircase up to an elevated ride entrance so guests can reach it.
    • Flat mode now also connects to an elevated path behind you, so you can lay a flat landing at the top of a ramp.
    • Each ramp announces its direction, e.g. "Ramp up to the East".

Notes

  • The ramp climbs toward your last arrow-move direction; move one tile in the direction you want to climb, then build, and each tile connects to the previous one one level higher.
  • Requires your own copy of the original RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 game files, as usual.

OpenRCT2-Access v0.8

@RossMinor RossMinor released this 27 Jun 00:28

OpenRCT2-Access v0.8

Accessibility improvements for blind players (NVDA + keyboard).

New in this release

  • Pre-built ride menus read in full. Selecting a ride and browsing its pre-built designs now reads, in order: name, cost, dimensions, the three ratings, the in-game description, and a visual description. Press I on a design to open a vertical list of the extended statistics (max/average speed, ride length, G-forces, air time, drops, drop height, inversions) and arrow through them.
  • Specific, data-derived design descriptions. Each pre-built design now gets its own visual description generated from its real track data: the shape of the layout (hills, turns and how sharp they are, inversions, helixes, patterns), notable features (chain lift, boosters, water splashes, on-ride photo), and its default colour scheme. Two designs of the same ride type now read differently.
  • Ride visual descriptions for every ride type in the New Ride window, describing what each ride looks like.
  • Ride placement facing fixed. Pressing R while placing a ride now reports the correct, absolute compass direction the entrance faces.
  • Camera rotation on Shift plus arrows. Shift+Right rotates the view 90 degrees clockwise, Shift+Left rotates it counter-clockwise. (Previously this was on Enter, which was easy to trigger by accident.)

Notes

  • If you previously customized the rotate-view shortcut in Options, your saved binding takes priority over the new default.
  • Requires your own copy of the original RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 game files, as usual.
