v1.4.1
Fixes
- A search that started while the one-time HTTP enable was restarting the Everything GUI could block on dead IPC and time out on machines where Everything runs as a lone GUI process (no background service — e.g. CI runners). es.exe spawns and the HTTP enable now share a serialization gate: queries queue behind the restart instead of racing it.
v1.4.0 — HTTP fast channel
What's new
- HTTP fast channel: searches are served by Everything's built-in HTTP JSON server on 127.0.0.1 — no per-call es.exe spawn, native UTF-8, exact totals for free. Auto-enabled once per session (Everything ships it policy-locked; the plugin patches both Everything.ini files, binds loopback only, and restarts the GUI). Optional Basic auth via
httpUsername/httpPassword;httpPort: 0disables the channel. es.exe remains the fallback fordateCreated, extra sort keys, andregex+path/type-filter combos. exactTotal(defaulttrue):falseskips the count round-trip on full pages and reports a≥Nlower bound.- Observable output: results now carry
channel(http/es),totalExact, andnoteswith query-interpretation remarks. - Whole-query quoted phrases containing spaces are auto-converted to an equivalent regex (previously silent AND-degradation).
Fixes
- No event-loop blocking while waiting out the es.exe export flush race; a missing/empty export falls back to decoded stdout instead of a fake empty page.
- A non-existent
pathis rejected up front (ES_INVALID_ARGS) instead of "no matches". truncatedis true whenever a full page has an inexact total.
v1.3.1
Fixed
- Multi-word queries silently returned 0 results: the whole query string was passed to es.exe as ONE argument (matched literally). Queries are now tokenized into per-term arguments, restoring AND semantics. See README quirks for phrase details.
- Non-ASCII file names came back as mojibake: results are now read from es.exe UTF-8
-export-jsonoutput (GBK console fallback kept for older es builds).
v1.3.0
What's new
- countOnly - return just the total match count in one round-trip; the fastest way to check whether files exist or estimate volume.
- dateCreated - include each result's creation date alongside size and date modified.
- ES CLI self-update - the plugin keeps its self-installed es.exe current against the pinned known-good release. User-managed installs are never touched.
- Tool description now documents Everything search syntax, the dedicated path parameter (more reliable than inline path:), and the NTFS/reFS coverage limit.
Fixes
- Background provisioning probe could log a spurious "auto-install failed" warning on auto-installed setups (it used the pre-resolution esPath).
- Backend recovery (auto-install / auto-start retry) now covers the count-only path too.
