Weather App using OpenWeather API

Description

This is a simple command-line weather application developed in Python that utilizes the OpenWeather API to fetch real-time weather data for specified cities and displays the current temperature on the terminal.

Features

  • Fetches real-time weather data from OpenWeather API.
  • Displays the current temperature of specified cities.
  • User-friendly command-line interface (CLI) for easy interaction.

Approach

  • Technologies Used: Python, OpenWeather API.
  • API Integration: Utilized the OpenWeather API to fetch weather data, including temperature, for specified cities.
  • CLI Implementation: Developed a command-line interface allowing users to input the name of the city for which they want to retrieve the weather information.
  • Data Display: Utilized Python's print function to display the current temperature of the specified city on the terminal.

How to Use

  1. Clone the repository to your local machine.
  2. Install the required dependencies (requests library for making HTTP requests).
  3. Obtain an API key from OpenWeather API (https://openweathermap.org/api) and replace the placeholder API_KEY in the code with your actual API key.
  4. Run the Python script (weather_app.py).
  5. Follow the prompts to input the name of the city for which you want to retrieve the weather information.
  6. The current temperature of the specified city will be displayed on the terminal.
