hikari v0.11.6
The skip button recognises more opening chapter titles.
Fixed
- Openings named

Before, onlyOpeningalone counted, whileEnding - ...already did. Content chapters such asOpening NightorOpening Ceremonystill do not count. Thanks to @itsmesodre for the report (#3).

hikari v0.11.5
The skip button finds series that AniList's search misses.
Fixed
- AniList, Kitsu and Jikan in turn. When AniList does not find the series, hikari now asks Kitsu, and then Jikan, and uses the first that finds it. Before, Kitsu and Jikan were only asked when AniList was down. AniList's search finds nothing for some spellings (Seanime's "Gaikotsu Kishi-sama Tadaima Isekai e Odekake-chuu", for one) that Kitsu finds at once.
- A series is only remembered as "not found" when all three answered; when one is down, it is looked up again next time instead of a week later.

hikari v0.11.4
The skip button finds more series on AniSkip.
Fixed
- Sequels named with a Roman numeral. A later season that AniList or Kitsu calls "… II" (Skeleton Knight in Another World, for one) is now found as season 2, and so on up to X. Before, it was not found and no skip button showed.
- Hyphens. A name whose hyphen joins two words is now found either way: "Odekake-chuu", as Seanime writes it, finds AniList's "Odekakechuu".
- A series that was not found before is looked up again right away after updating, instead of a week later.

hikari v0.11.3
The skip button and the controls bar now get along.
Fixed
- Skip button with uosc. With the pointer on "Skip opening" (or ending), uosc's controls showed only half faded in, because the button sits just above the bar. Now they show whole while the pointer is on the button, as in other players, and hide again when it leaves or rests there. A bar you pinned with uosc's
toggle-uiis left as it is. - Skip button with suji. suji 0.7.3 does the same for its own skip button: the interface shows whole while the pointer is on it.
Updated
- suji 0.7.2 → 0.7.3 (only with the suji interface).

hikari v0.11.2
Fixes from a full review of hikari's code. Nothing changes in how hikari looks or works: the installers and the scripts are safer in rarer setups.
Fixed
- Linked config folders. A
scripts(orfonts,mpv.conf...) that is a link to another folder, as dotfiles setups do, is now copied into the backup with what it holds. Before, it was left out while the installer still wrote inside it. - A first install that failed half-way. Running the installer again no longer takes hikari's own uosc, thumbfast and their settings for yours, so uninstalling afterwards removes them and puts your
uosc.confback. - Continue watching. When the list cannot be read for a moment (a sync tool or an antivirus holding it), it is no longer replaced by an empty one.
- Uninstall keeps
scripts-desactivadosandshaders-desactivadoswhen what is left in them are links. - Old
~/.mpvfolder (macOS and Linux): when it is the only one, hikari installs there instead of creating~/.config/mpv, which would hide it from mpv. - Read-only
mpv.conforinput.conf(macOS and Linux): found before anything changes, with a clear message. - scoop (Windows): the backups go next to the persisted
portable_config, soscoop cleanupno longer deletes them. - Stream titles no longer show path parameters such as
;jsessionid=..., which can carry a session. - Saving choices (palette, subtitles, Anime4K, language, automatic skip): one careful way of writing for all of them.
- Continue watching menu: faster with many series in one big folder.
- Smaller things: a folder dragged into the macOS Terminal is accepted; uninstalling from a folder that does not exist (a typo in
-Target) is a warning, not an error.

hikari v0.11.1
Small polish after the first round of feedback. Thank you to everyone who shared hikari and left a comment!
Changed
- Anime4K says when it stays off on purpose. In Automatic mode, hikari leaves 1440p and 4K videos without upscaling, since they don't need it. The first time that happens in a session, a short message says so (Anime4K: Automatic (no shaders, 2160p)), so it no longer looks broken. To upscale every video, pick a fixed mode in the Upscaling menu or press
Ctrl+1–Ctrl+6. - suji 0.7.2. With suji, the automatic-skip button now has its own fast-forward icon.
- Clearer README: there is no need to uninstall anything before installing, and it now says what hikari adds on top of uosc.

hikari v0.11.0
Openings and endings can now skip themselves, and the language menu has its own button.
New
- Automatic skip. hikari can skip openings, endings or both on its own, without pressing the button. It is off by default: turn it on with Alt+Shift+s (
Alt+S), with its new button in the controls, or withauto_skipinhikari-skip.conf. Your choice is remembered.- It only skips when playback reaches the opening or ending, or when an episode starts or resumes inside it. If you go back to it yourself, it plays.
- For 5 seconds after a skip, the button reads ‹ Watch opening (or ending) to go back.
- It waits while the continue-watching question is on screen, and never skips what comes after the credits.
- Works with chapters (
OP,Opening,ED,Ending,Credits…) and with AniSkip times.
- Language and automatic-skip buttons in the controls of uosc and suji. With suji, the automatic-skip button is marked while it is on. Changing the language no longer needs a key, which mpv.net / AnimeJaNai did not have.
- Test builds are now named after the release they are built on (
0.11.0+dev.<commit>), so the update notice tells you when a newer stable version is out.
Fixed
- Subtitles and audio in your language with the current AnimeJaNai. Newer AnimeJaNai versions set
alang = 'jpn'andslang = 'eng'inside their[animejanai]profile. hikari took those for your own choice and left English subtitles on; it now recognises them as AnimeJaNai's defaults and uses the language you picked in hikari, as before. A line of your own inmpv.confstill wins.

hikari v0.10.0
hikari no longer needs uosc, and you can try suji, hikari's own interface for mpv, instead of it.
New
-
suji as the interface (experimental). The installer now asks which interface you want: uosc (recommended), the same as before, or suji (experimental). You can also pass
--interface suji(-Interface sujion Windows). With suji you get:- suji 0.7.1, checked against its SHA256 like everything else;
- hikari's buttons in suji's row;
- the skip button and the episode title (series above, episode and its name below) drawn by suji, in its own style;
- timeline thumbnails through thumbfast;
- a palette that changes suji's accent colour.
Only one interface is in place at a time. When you switch, the other one goes to
scripts-desactivados, never deleted, and comes back if you choose it again. uosc stays the recommended one while suji is being tested. -
hikari works without uosc. If uosc is missing, hikari's menus open in mpv's own selector (mpv 0.39 or newer): palettes, subtitles, continue watching, update and language. The continue-watching question shows there too. Tidy titles, the skip button, AniSkip, subtitle styles, Anime4K and speeds work the same.
Fixed
- Installer: keys typed before a question asked in writing (
--no-menu, a narrow terminal or one without colours) no longer answer it, the same as with the arrow-key menus.
Kitsu as a source for the skip times, from 0.9.1, is included.

hikari v0.9.1
A small fix for the skip button.
Fixed
- Skip opening / ending without chapters works again. For files without chapters, hikari asks AniSkip for the times, and AniSkip needs the series' MyAnimeList id. hikari looked it up in AniList and then Jikan, but AniList has disabled its API and Jikan is not answering, so the button never showed. hikari now also asks Kitsu (kitsu.app), between AniList and Jikan. Kitsu gets the series name, the same as AniList. The same matching rules apply (title, season, TV/ONA, episode count), and nothing it sends back is trusted unchecked.
